Disappointed

So I found out today that my boss offered the curator position to the other candidate.  I am, needless to say, pretty upset.  I guess I just let myself believe that I deserved it.  I have done everything that has been asked me, and countless things that have not, and have literally been the curator since the old one left.  I am currently in charge of the budget, the docents, the website, I am the safety represenative, I did two camps by myself, and I scheduled a very successful docent trip to Colorado this past weekend.  It will be very difficult to go to work and act like nothing is wrong.  It will be even more difficult to train my new boss.  I guess I should mention that the position has been offered to this person, but she has not accepted yet.  There is still a small chance that she will not accept the position, and if she doesn't then I will most likely be offered it.  But I absolutely hate being second.

I am upset, but I am trying to keep a positive attitude.  Because I am not curator, I will not feel as guilty if we move back to MO after a few years, whereas I would fell an obligation to stay longer if I was curator.  And while I do not know why God didn't want me to get promoted, I know I can still serve Him by being a good loser.

Anwyays, enough about that, I could probably rant all night.  I am sure I will feel better after some sleep.  The docent trip this past weekend was a lot of fun.  I have posted pictures on facebook for anyone interested.  We went to the USFWS Repository in Denver.  This is the building that houses all the confiscated wildlife material in the US.  The warehouse has rows and rows of dead stuff.  Very interesting.  Then we went shopping at an outlet mall in Castle Rock.  Then it was down to CO Springs and to a Wolf and Wildlife Center where we got a private tour, and then a full moon tour.  During the full moon tour we got to feed the wolves, howl at the moon and then have them howl back, and then went back to the education building and met a wolf one on one.  They brought the wolf in and he gave me a kiss!  It was wonderful!  Then Sunday morning we got a guided tour of the Cheyenne Mountian Zoo.  Here we got to pet a baby joey, feed a giraffe (the giraffe took the cracker out of my mouth), feed some parrots, and were treated to a pot luck by the docents of that zoo.  We managed to get stuck in two different elevators, one flat tire, and I got snapped at twice by evil ladies.  It rained the whole time and I barely got to see the mountains at all due to cloud cover.  But all in all, a nice trip.

K, that's all for now.
