Hooray!
Just found out that our library is host the the KS Southwest Anime Club. This makes me very happy. It also has a lot of good/recent books. However, getting a card with them is like pulling teeth. Most libraries only require one item with a current address on it, then they issue the card immediately. This one requires two forms with addresses and then they mail it to you. I am going crazy without a book!
On a different note, I found out (by accident) that one of the owls likes to be sung to. I was cleaning in the animal room by myself and like I often do when working alone I started singing quietly. One of the owls we use for programs is a Short-eared owl and only has one wing. He is all hiss and no bite, but he likes to hiss and click his beak when anyone comes near him. Well he was hissing as normal until I started singing, then he stopped and got all attentive. So I tried singing to him the next time he started hissing, and I got the same response. So the owl likes to be sung to. Weird.
