Day one of my new job is over! I never thought that snorkeling would be such hard work! Wet suits are very bouyant and when you snorkel you kind of just float and let your legs float behind you. Also, you start out downstream and work your way upstream. This means you basically pull your way up stream with your arms. And when the water gets deep and the current gets strong, that is easier said than done! So I came home and just crashed after I showered, I was exhausted! And tomorrow is going to be even longer, probably working from 7am to 7pm. Thursday I will be working with another biologist and we will be boating doing crappie work, and I have to be at work at 6am! I'm a little worried about how my body will handle it, and how IBS will effect things. But God got me this job and has worked everything out so far, I just have to trust Him. I'm also a bit worried that I might get bored of snorkeling all the time. Even though it is fun, it is tiring and repetitive. But it is much better than working at HObby Lobby, I can't believe I am getting paid to do this! I am going to be so buff by the end of this internship. We did find the endangered fish, the niangua darter, that we will be researching, and lots of darter species. I also discovered that the fish in the books do not look like the fish in real life. It was fun though when we jumped in the stream and floated down to the survey site. It was like inter-tubing without the inter-tube. Anyways, I am going to relax now, because tomorrow will be just as busy.
