Fine with me! mightbeblogging November 5 2011, 04:19:03 UTC
[ Sherlock Holmes is an insufferable, impossible, frustrating, brilliant man... and John is absolutely smitten with him. Its hard to pinpoint when his feelings for the other transitioned from 'best mate' to something much more, but he didn't try to figure it out. Perhaps the blur had always been there, making it difficult to say just how much this man had come to mean to him. For a moment, he just admires the other's otherworldly face, silently delighting in the high lines of his cheek, and the way his vivid eyes flutter shut at his touch. John's hands are a surgeon's hands - small, somewhat calloused, but also steady and sure. And right now, touching the detective's cheek was a more delicate thing to be focused on than any surgery he'd ever performed.

At that simple word, he nods, not wanting to rush this, but wanting to savor each moment, each little sensation. Its not every day you and your best mate decide its time to try a big of snogging... and, perhaps, more. That bit makes John nervous, because while he has dated quite a few women in his time... Sherlock would the first man he's ever truly been attracted to. Even at war in Afghanistan, when people turned a blind eye to such things, that had been different.

His tongue flicks out absently, wetting his lips, as he moves his thumb down over Sherlock's own heart-shaped lips. Then, slowly, with his heart thudding loudly in his chest, he closes that distance to press his lips against the other man's. Its gentle and tentative at first as he gets a feel for the other, not wanting to push him too far. But he is pleasantly surprised that Sherlock's lips are softer than he thought they would be. ]

[He doesn't know what it is about John that he came to admire so much. Maybe there were two many reasons to count, but the main ones were how John genuinely liked him while the vice versa was also true. He didn't know if it was more extraordinary that John was endlessly fascinated by him rather than hating him like so many others did, or that Sherlock was so interested in such a seemingly ordinary man. John may look like an everyman on the surface, but Sherlock knew better than that. John was absolutely singular, and studying him had become one of Sherlock's favorite pastimes since they moved in together.

Sherlock was certainly fine with taking this slow, wanting to catalog every little touch and sensation, from John's feather-light touch to his cheek to the way his heart pattered away in an erratic rhythm in his chest. There's also the sense of the foreign and unknown which was absolutely what he lived for. He'd never felt this connection with anyone before, certainly never enough to even entertain the idea of anything more than acquaintanceship. But then, John came along, and suddenly he had a Friend, then a Best Friend, then a Probably A Bit More Than Best Friend, and now, unbelievably, a Lover.

He finally opens his eyes halfway to read John's expression, seeing his own anticipation mirrored on his face. He feels an unfamiliar fluttering in his abdomen, suddenly understanding what people meant whenever they talked about having butterflies in their stomach. It's exacerbated with every long moment that passes as John leans in, and the sensation is terribly pleasant if not completely foreign. It felt like time dragged on until John's lips met his, and then it all but stopped. His eyes fell closed again, and everything was quiet, including his mind. He'd never managed to shut his brain off without pharmaceutical help before. His hand reaches up to grab at John's shirt in a gesture that screamed 'don't you bloody even think of going anywhere'. With his brain shutting up for a moment, his body and instincts take over, tilting his head slightly to perfect the angle as he hesitantly returned the kiss, hoping it wasn't terrible in comparison for someone like John who's actually kissed someone before.]

Thanks! Another Sherlock-playing friend made it for me. And I have more. :D mightbeblogging November 6 2011, 01:39:01 UTC
[ John still would have thought himself quite ordinary in comparison to a brilliant man like Sherlock. They really did complement each other well, though. Lestrade had once told him how he thought he made the detective 'better.' Truth be told, John was absolutely certain that it went both ways. After the war, he'd come back a broken man, living on a pension in a cheap, one bedroom flat. Ever since chancing to walk into the detective's life, his own had been turned upside down. He couldn't imagine being anywhere but with this man now.

He's somewhat aware how new this is to Sherlock, as far as a physical relationship goes, and he doesn't want to make him uncomfortable. Of course, kissing a man is new for John as well, but then, this isn't just any man. He'd never been able to easily categorize him, after all. This was just... Sherlock. When that hand fists into his shirt, he is surprised, but he's certainly not going anywhere. No, the kiss is not terrible, although he can't compare it to others he's had in his life. Its different and new and exciting all at the same time. Slowly, he takes the other's lower lip in his own, running his tongue along it lightly, then sucking on it gently. Sherlock has a very distinctive taste that he's tempted to just drink in, but he forces himself not to rush it. He returns to kissing those lips, letting his hand come around to the back of the detective's neck, fingers running through those surprisingly dark curls. Then, he ever-so-gently deepens the kiss, parting Sherlock's lips with his tongue and pushing it slowly into his mouth. ]

They're lovely <3 I love that artist. shutupimagenius November 6 2011, 04:53:09 UTC
[It really was remarkable about how quickly and thoroughly John entangled himself in Sherlock's life. It was certainly something how John could get past all his more annoying eccentricities and even go out of his way to call him brilliant. He was hardly used to compliments, and John's sounded so earnest and genuine that they had thrown Sherlock off at first. Now, though, he couldn't imagine performing his regular deductions without John's encouragement in the background.

Sherlock isn't uncomfortable by any stretch because he trusts John so much. He's simply a bit out of his element, obviously. He was never a very tactile person, so this new desire of wanting to touch John had completely floored him when he first noticed it. He was prepared to ignore it, but it seemed to sneak up on him and make him ignore John's personal space even more than usual and leave him wondering what he just did after the fact. All of his original trepidation worked out for the best, it seemed, because here they were.

The kiss was nice, despite his not knowing what he was doing. He relied mostly on John's direction and his body's instinctual responses for now, his brain only working to catalog and file away every bit of this. He lets John take the lead in this case, humming approvingly when John pays that attention to his lower lip. Mm, yes, that certainly gets a big underlined 'I like that' in Sherlock's mental file. He's shifting closer at this point, his hand not releasing his grip on John's shirt as though he'd leave just as soon as he let go. There certainly didn't seem to be much danger of John's leaving based on how invested he was in this.

He melted into the kiss even more when John's hand found his hair, shuddering faintly at the feeling of his fingers on the sensitive skin of his neck and scalp. His arms come around John's middle to tug himself up against him, obligingly parting his lips for John's tongue and groaning softly as it snaked into his mouth. He tentatively pressed his own against John's, his fingers tightening on his shirt as he tangled his tongue with John's and noted how his breathing was getting steadily more ragged as all this went on.]

[ Some part of him had been afraid that the kiss might not be such a good thing, that it would ruin things between them and bring in this new, awkward level. Luckily, he didn't have to worry about that for very long. Everything about this man had him completely fascinated, and the kiss was no different. It was strange to almost be the 'teacher' in a situation concerning them both, for once. Usually, on the case, he was more the 'back-up,' which was alright. He was getting better at the deducing thing. Sherlock was a fairly patient teacher, and sometimes, it was if he really did want his blogger to become apt at it. Now that the roles were somewhat reversed, he would gladly take the lead.

John moaned appreciatively into that kiss when his tongue met Sherlock's and began that slow dance. The long arms wrapping themselves around him feel very warm and welcoming, and John moves his other hand up and around the detective's neck. He was only all too willing to be brought in closer, and his hands were a gentle but firm pressure on the back of that neck, bringing Sherlock in as well. Soon, he was inching into the other man's lap, almost without even realizing what he was doing. Rushing was not a good thing, no... but God, it felt too good to stop. Breathing was becoming a bit of a problem, yes, but as Sherlock often said... breathing was boring. This was most certainly not. ]

[The idea that Sherlock could call this simply an experiment was now completely gone from his head. He used it as a defense mechanism, so if John hadn't felt the same way he had about this venture, he could just say it was an experiment and that certainly there weren't any real feelings behind it. He felt like he wouldn't be able to manage that now without John knowing for sure that he was lying because he was definitely feeling something right now. He couldn't pinpoint the emotions in play exactly, but he did know for sure that he wanted John as close to him as possible and to keep kissing him until he couldn't feel his lips anymore.

It definitely felt like he was starting to get the hang of this snogging business, and he was reassured of that fact by the way John was reacting to it. He pulls him as close as possible, almost trying to drag him into his lap as he started to feel pleasantly lightheaded at the overwhelming new sensations. He notes that John seems to be going along with it and even trying to pull himself into his lap, so it was without hesitation that he braces one arm around John's back and uses the other to grab John's leg and pull it over his so John was straddling him. He hummed appreciatively at the new position, able to press their fronts together entirely in this position as he continued kissing the breath out of him.]

[ John knew how dangerous this was, and how it was probably a very, very bad idea. This was Sherlock Holmes, after all, a man who was as brilliant as he was insufferable at times. Did he even know how to have a normal, stable relationship with another person? But as the kiss continued on, and he found himself being pulled into his flatmate's lap, bodies pressing together like that... he found he really couldn't bring himself to care right now.

No, Sherlock was not bad at snogging, not bad at all.

Curious about how the other man might enjoy something a bit different, John slowly broke the kiss, but only so he could trail his lips up that exquisite cheekbone. He then moved on to his earlobe, paying particular attention with his lips, tongue, and teeth. He wanted to see what sort of reactions this brought out, but he would derive pleasure from this no matter what. This was Sherlock, and he couldn't get enough of him, and why hadn't they been doing this sooner? ]

[Sherlock had no idea how to function in relationships of the romantic sense, or relationships in general, really, before John came along. It seemed he was learning what it meant to be a friend the whole time without realizing it, having developed the habit of thinking about the ramifications of his words rather than just saying them around John. He also couldn't help how pleased he'd get whenever he'd do something for John like make him tea and John would give him a smile like it was one of the more brilliant things he'd ever done. He hadn't planned on ever letting him know just how profoundly that smile had affected him, but that was before he wound up in this position which made it fairly obvious how John made him feel.

He was enjoying every bit of this, contrary to preconceived notions, from the kiss to the warmth to the weight of John on top of him. It made him feel terribly secure, like he could be vulnerable and open without having to worry about what John might think of him because he already knew that John thought the world of him and nothing would ever change that. It seemed John was enjoying himself too, and that more than anything made him want to keep pursuing this.

He kissed John for as long as he could before John's lips pulled away, and he would have missed their presence if John hadn't continued kissing over his cheek to his earlobe. He hummed happily and squeezed him close when John spent a few moments on his ear, exhaling approvingly at the attention. He squirmed and gave a surprised 'nhh' sound when John's tongue and teeth came into play, unable to think straight to do anything besides grip hard at John's shirt and start panting under John's talented mouth.]

John. [His voice was a breathless whisper at this point, wanting to say so much but losing his entire vocabulary as John did that to him.]

[ To be perfectly honest, before this glorious moment they found themselves in, John would have sworn Sherlock was actually something of an asexual creature. His work was entirely his main focus, and he'd never really shown apparent attraction in either sex. That much had been made clear that fateful night at the restaurant, before the ridiculous chase through London and the decision made that they would be flatmates. But after that, he'd still had no reason to believe the detective was attracted to anyone or anything but his work - and maybe his flatmate. John had subsequently convinced himself this was because he might just be Sherlock's one true friend, and perhaps the man also thought him part of his work - part of his process.

Obviously, none of this was completely true. He was pleasantly surprised to discover the man could be quite sexual, as proven by this exceptional kiss, and his pleased reactions to John's affections on other parts of his body. He's more than willing to help Sherlock work it out, and try what will hopefully be an altered relationship for the better. Meanwhile, John's own body is reacting in ways that certainly show his own approval of their physical contact.

When he heard the other breathe his name, it was somehow even more arousing than the kiss had been. Little did Sherlock know that so much was said in that one, breathless word, and it sent a shiver down John's back. He pulled away slowly, opening his eyes to gaze thoughtfully at his best friend. It was not a label that most effectively described what they were, but it was still true. Moving his right hand to Sherlock's lovely, aquiline face, he exhaled quietly, gently running his fingers through those dark curls, reveling the soft feel of them. Yes, he was definitely in awe of this man. ]

Is this... alright? Should I slow down? [ His own voice was soft, hesitant, because as much as he wanted this, he didn't want to make Sherlock uncomfortable, or rush this. ]

[Sherlock certainly had never thought he'd be interested in something so normal as human companionship. At least, until John came along and managed to fill in all the empty spaces in Sherlock's life without even trying. The need for John became something as all-consuming as his need for casework, and every time John left to visit Sarah had left him with an unfamiliar void in his chest that nothing seemed to fill until John came back. He was ready to ignore it, until he'd hear John talk about Sarah and how it could be something serious, which managed to terrify Sherlock more than he'd imagined possible. What if John got married and moved out? How would he survive when someone so perfectly there like John was suddenly and irrevocably gone?

It was soon after that unsettling thought that he decided it couldn't hurt to experiment with the idea that he could be more to John than just a flatmate. He had said he was married to his work, and that was still technically true because John was a big part of his work. He was his sounding board and his vessel for all the information Sherlock couldn't be bothered with storing like daytime telly hosts and anything about the solar system. John had become indispensable in his work in their time together, and now he couldn't imagine working without John's constant presence in the background.

It was an interesting experiment so far, to say the least. Sherlock was never a tactile creature by any stretch, but now he was practically clinging to John and showed no signs of letting up on his grip, especially when John had his earlobe in his mouth. He glanced up when John pulled back, searching his expression for what John was feeling in this moment. He was glad that whatever John felt was accompanied by his hand on his face and in his hair, finding that he rather liked the feeling of that.

He gave his trademark 'are you daft?' look when John asked if this was alright, thinking it should be obvious that this was far more than just alright.]

This is much better than 'alright', I assure you. [He tilted his head curiously when John asked if he should slow down, reading all his trepidation clearly written on his face.]

Pacing isn't an issue for me. You should know I want to learn everything I can as quickly as I can whenever I'm invested in something. You should only slow down if it would make you more comfortable.

[ John wasn't offended by that 'are you daft' look, since yes, he's quite used to it by now, and right now, its very comforting. It actually makes him smirk quietly in dry amusement, relief flooding through him when Sherlock reassures him that everything is much better than alright. When the detective went on to explain how fine he was with the fast pacing, a bit of color actually warmed the good doctor's cheeks sheepishly. He shook his head, gaze glancing down to those addicting, heart-shaped lips, the elegant neck... and the back up to those pale eyes before he could lose all his focus completely. It was a very easy thing to do when you were straddling one Sherlock Holmes and eager to get back to all that intoxicating snogging once again. ]

No, no - I'm very good with this pacing. I just... well. [ His expression softened into a little smile. ] I want you, Sherlock, more than I've wanted... well, anyone, really. It almost scares me how badly I want this. So please don't doubt my feelings on this. Unfortunately, I'm not yet to the point where I can read your thoughts - thank God, [ John chuckled quietly, leaning forward to kiss the detective's lips briefly again, breaking away only to finish his sentence: ] so I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page here.

[Sherlock is glad to see John smirk at his look rather than get offended by it per usual. Maybe he underestimated the benefits of romantic relationships, because it seemed to make John far more forgiving when he was on top of him.

And oh, John's blushing now, which just endears him to Sherlock all the more, as much as that's possible. He watches his wandering gaze in interest, feeling a slight patter in his chest at how eager John seemed to be to get back in to it because he was too.

He's all ready to jump right back into the kissing when John says the pacing is fine, but he stops himself when John trails off and smiles like that. His words manage to floor him for a moment. He already knew John was interested in him, but to hear it like that made an unfamiliar but very pleasant warmth pool in his stomach and radiate up through his chest.]

I want you too. [He blurts out suddenly, clearing his throat at how those words had so suddenly leapt from his mouth.] I know I can be difficult, but I don't want you to doubt that I am invested in this. [He's still coming to grips with the fact that he has feelings, so this is him taking baby steps to admitting just how much he feels for John. Any lingering confusion is swiftly dissipated when John's lips meet his again, effectively quieting his mind once more. How did John do that anyway? He never would have guessed that the thing that would finally shut his brain up (apart from drugs) was snogging.]

I think we're absolutely on the same page. [He affirmed, pulling him into another kiss and dragging him down with him so they were both lying down and John was on top of him. He was swiftly becoming addicted to the feeling of John pressed so thoroughly against him, that much was certain.]

[ Obviously, John knew Sherlock was attracted to him on some level, but he'd still had that little nagging doubt that perhaps this was more of an experiment to him. But to hear him repeat those simple words: I want you too affected the doctor so powerfully that it surprised him. It really shouldn't have, he mused - after all, the detective's words, enveloped around that deep baritone voice of his, had been affecting him since the first day they'd med and he'd introduced him to an exciting new world. Ever since then, he'd been following him almost blindly, not looking back, even on the most dangerous cases, or after their worst arguments. Now would not be different.

Sherlock's confident affirmation was more than enough, and he willingly returned to that kiss, his eyes slipping closed as lips crashed into lips. He did let out a quietly muffled sound of surprise to find himself on top of the detective like that... but he quickly decided he didn't mind. It would be nice to have some control of the situation, since usually it was the other way around with everything else, and John was a bit more experienced with being intimate. Still, this was not only another man, it was Sherlock, and he was very interested in exploring him and finding out what sort of 'things' he liked. Snogging was good - snogging was very good for them both. But now, there was also the added friction between their bodies that John could control by pressing his down into Sherlock's.

It was a new sort of sensation for the doctor as well, however, as he slowly let himself down from where his hands, one on either side of Sherlock's face, had kept him propped up. He broke the kiss only to drag his lips down the man's elegant neck, finding a nice spot to work at with the gentle pressure of his teeth, and then sucking with his lips. The fingers of one of his hands was tangled in the detective's dark hair, a gentle, tugging pressure there. At the same time, he brings his hips upwards against Sherlock's in a grind that is almost tantalizingly slow. The arousing feeling surprises even John, bringing a pleased moan out of his lips. ]

[Sherlock was worried for a moment that he would regret admitting even something as simple as physical wanting because he'd never felt it before and it was all so new and disorienting. John understood, though, like he always did to the point where Sherlock felt ridiculous for worrying in the first place. This was John, after all, who knew more about him than probably anyone and accepted it all, even the bad parts like his past drug use and his bouts of persistent depression. Sherlock didn't have to worry with John at all, and the walls he's carefully built around himself for years crumbled away a bit more every time John smiled at him in that way that said 'it's all fine' without any words.

He kissed him with far more fervor this time, ending up dragging him on top of him in his enthusiasm. He was glad John seemed to enjoy it too, and he certainly liked the way it felt when John lowered himself onto him as a living blanket of sorts. He could certainly do with that warmth during the harsh London winters, John's body heat yet another advantage of this partnership that he hadn't anticipated.

He tries to catch his breath when the kiss breaks, but it's no good when John's lips drag over his neck, making him gasp softly and tilt his head to give him better access, though maybe that was John's hand in his hair moving his head like that. Either way, he liked it a lot. A moan is torn from his throat when all that (which was already absurdly good) was accompanied by John rocking his hips against his. He arches up against him a bit at the feeling, his fingers fisting into John's shirt as he all but writhes under him.]

Nnnhh. [That helpless sound is all he manages in response when he feels like all his nerves are short-circuiting under all the pleasurable sensations.]

[ John would probably only worry about Sherlock more now, if that were even possible. He rather hoped the experiments with drugs were all behind him now, but he doubted he would ever be able to stop this impossible man from taking risks. Hell, he wasn't one to talk, as much as he got off on danger himself, but that didn't mean he wanted his flatmate to take too many unnecessary risks just for the sake of boredom, or something to that effect. At the very least, he always wanted to be there with him, so they had each others' backs. Now that it had become clear their deep feelings for each other were very much mutual, the doctor had a feeling the younger man would eventually be the death of him, in the figurative or even literal sense.

Right now, however, such thoughts did not even remotely plague him. Really, the most complex thought he had in that moment was how insanely good this all felt. The moan and the sounds Sherlock is making only spur him on - that voice alone sending a little pleasurable shiver down his spine. Just feeling that lean body pressing against his, even through their clothes, is already starting to drive him wild. Some part of him knows he shouldn't go too quickly, since this is new to Sherlock, and 'getting to second base' with his flatmate is very new to him, as well. But that doesn't stop him from doing just that, as he grazes his teeth lightly against the other's collarbone. His fingers slowly unbutton his shirt, lips trailing down newly exposed, pale skin. ]

[Sherlock really wondered why he'd never thought of this before. It had been obvious from the moment they met that they would become inseperable. He hadn't been able to place what exactly it was that told him that, especially because John seemed so ordinary. It was clear after their first few days together that John was far from ordinary, enough to intrigue Sherlock to no end. He wanted to know everything about him, apparently even what he was like in a relationship, which had caught him completely by surprise.

It didn't feel as foreign as it actually was to do this with John, though. His body's responses were instinctual, and his mind was quiet without frenetically listing off all the ways this could go terribly wrong. He was left to just enjoy himself and all the attention John was giving him.

His hands can only grip at John's shirt as he panted softly underneath him, gazing at him through half-lidded eyes as he watched him start to unbutton his shirt. His chest is rising and falling quite quickly under John's lips, each kiss stoking that insistent heat in his stomach. The need to learn more finally got him to concentrate enough to get his own hands moving to work at opening John's shirt as well. He gently drags his hands up his abdomen when he gets his shirt open, his eyes lingering at the scar on his shoulder but not touching yet in case John had a stigma about it, asking for permission with his eyes.]
