D: why does LJ have to suck so bad deducing_freak October 25 2011, 06:30:37 UTC
[Still speechless, he only looks down at their hands together and slowly looks back up at John again. His mind is completely awash with different thoughts and possible scenarios. But it all boiled down to this. All those little jokes and rumors of them being an old married couple, were apparently more true then he had imagined. This man knew him, understood him, has seen him at his worst and his best. John was unwaveringly loyal, he had proven it so many times.]

Well, it's just... I hadn't prepared myself for a situation like this. [Sherlock had doubted he would be able to find a flatmate, much less a.. husband? He was still somewhat taken within the moment. Now going silent again as his eyes traveled back down to their hands together. He knew he wanted this, to be with John just like this. So putting a legal tag on their relationship wouldn't really change anything, would it? Blue eyes would travel back up to that boyish grin that was plastered across the doctor's face. Sherlock didn't need labels to know what they had, but it would certainly make John happy and the detective would do just about anything to see the man smiling like that.]

....y-yes. [Why his voice shook just then was beyond him, maybe he was nervous or excited but either way Sherlock would nod his head to confirm.] I will marry you,

Do you know DW? I read a fanfic where these two are Rory's parents. Its adorable. xD mightbeblogging October 25 2011, 16:25:47 UTC
[ John declined against saying much, instead allowing the man to process everything in that overactive mind of his. Oh, his own mind was certainly made up - that had happened quite some time ago. He knew he wanted Sherlock, no matter what he did, no matter how angry he became at him, and no matter how many times their lives were put in danger. He also knew how wonderfully amazing this man could be, and how he'd chosen someone as ordinary as John to show his rare affections on. No one got to see him that way, except for his partner, and it was touching and humbling, in so many ways.

Perhaps this was selfish of the doctor, but he figured he deserved it. Still, it was only if Sherlock would be alright with the legal terms. When the detective replied in that slightly trembling voice, the doctor's smile only widened. Couldn't have stopped it if he'd tried. ]

You're sure, Sherlock? I don't want to force you into something you're not ready for.

I haven't been able to follow it much lately but YES. I love me some DW. deducing_freak October 26 2011, 00:26:37 UTC
You have obviously put a lot of thought into this...

[That was when he paused again, retreating back into his thoughts and reprocessing everything all over again. Was he sure? It didn't really matter to him. They were already together, so putting a legal label to it wouldn't change much of anything. Of course, it would give John all rights to make any sort of medical and financial decision making... as if he didn't already do that. Sherlock would just nod his head again, looking back up at him.]

I'm sure. [It was still a bit difficult to believe that he actually meant so much to this man. Even after everything they had gone through together. Or maybe it was because he still didn't realize just ow much John had actually meant to him.] If I truly mean so much to your, then who am I to deny you all the happiness you deserve.

I'm terribly behind too but DW is lovely. mightbeblogging October 26 2011, 21:19:13 UTC
[ John continued to watch Sherlock carefully, letting him work it out, and then listening to what he'd come up with. But there was basically no getting rid of his big grin now. Moving a hand up to the other's cheek, he leaned forward to kiss those lips briefly. Breaking away, he chuckled lightly, running his fingers through those dark curls. ]

Stupid man, don't you know how much you mean to me by now? You are my entire world, Sherlock. I'm not going anywhere, whether you marry me or not, but... it would make me happy, to know its a bit official, that we belong to each other, I suppose.

And anyway, we don't have to make a big deal out of it. We can have a small ceremony, if you'd like - hell, we could just get the license and... Mycroft or Lestrade as a witness. Suffice to say, I'm not going to get upset if there's not a fluffy white dress involved and a big cake.

[Well of course he knew. He just, didn't exactly know that he knew. It was all very obvious though. John was always there with him. The man was unwaveringly loyal and had the patience of a saint. Frankly, Sherlock was surprised that a man of such high moral standards could actually put up with him for so long.]

Well, I'd like to think of myself as a fairly traditional man, so if you really want to wear the dress then that's fine by by me. [Oh but he was teasing of course, as told by the small smile that curved his lips. But that's when a thought struck him and smile fades to a thoughtful glance.] Though... if you're the one who proposed to me then I suppose that would technically make me the woman in this situation...

But then again we're not exactly the traditional type, so we can just skip the dress altogether.

[ John couldn't imagine Sherlock having never been involved in his life somehow. Sometimes, he can even imagine the detective was there even before they'd met. But his new life, his real life had started once he'd returned from the war, and that had been the day he'd found himself becoming the flatmate to this impossibly amazing man. Meanwhile, he smirked in amusement, shaking his head at the other. ]

As much as I wouldn't mind seeing you in a dress and high heels, I think we can agree on not going that route. Just wear one of your suits and you'll be fine. Its me who will have to shop for something a bit fancier, I suppose. I don't think my favorite jumper will quite do the trick.

..well it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

[Because Sherlock may or may not have taken up a more feminine facade when working on a couple of his past cases. Most the best type of disguise, but it wasn't exactly something he was totally ashamed of either. In all honesty, he was rather proud that he had the legs for it, made his job all the more easier.]

You mean the striped one? But I like that one. What's wrong with it?

[ That first comment, about the dress and heels, causes John's brow to raise in surprise. He smirks, shaking his head, and realizes he really shouldn't be so shocked. ]

Well, we'll save that for a 'rainy day,' then, shall we? Suppose we could bring a bit more 'roleplaying' into our, ehm, sex life.

[ It still makes him blush just a bit, even after all this time together, and as embarrassing as it might be, especially when they're out in public and he's thinking about Sherlock like that, he hopes it doesn't stop anytime soon. ]

I'm glad you like, but its not really suitable for a wedding. I'll leave the tux and tails to you, but the least I could do is find a nice suit.

Ah yes, well... perhaps it just might rain during the honeymoon. It's supposed to be good luck if it rains the day of your wedding.. or so I've heard.

[He can't suppress the little smirk on his lips, sort of absently turning his head away as if trying to hide it and obviously failing miserably at doing so.]

That won't be a problem. I have someone who tailors my suits for me, I'm sure he won't mind doing the favor, may even consider it a sort of wedding present.

[ Sherlock's words, along with that smirk, only make John blush all the more, and they cause his stomach to do a little flip-flop thing. Chuckling lightly, he raised one of those hands to his lips and kissed the detective's knuckles, quite unable to resist. ]

Thank you, Sherlock. It doesn't have to be anything overly fancy. So,does that mean you're agreeing to a honeymoon as well, then? Suppose we'll have to think about where we're going, then.

Oh but of course. [After all, what's a wedding without a honeymoon, it only made sense.] Besides, I've always wanted a good reason to go back to Paris.

[As romantic as that may have sounded, that was the farthest thought from his mind. Sherlock just adored France, it was by far one of his more favored places to visit so this would make for the perfect opportunity to share it with John.]

This whole wedding business will take some planning though, even with a small ceremony. We'll need to pick a date, schedule a meeting with an available judge, buy rings, and of course we'll need witness but I'm sure that won't be too difficult.

I've... never actually been to Paris. [ John is caught off guard, surprised. Paris is the romantic city of love and all that. It doesn't seem the obvious choice for Sherlock, even though it might for a romantic like the doctor. He's not going to argue, of course, already excited for the wedding to be over so they can have that honeymoon. Really, its too good to be true, there has to be a catch somewhere. ]

Yes, of course. That shouldn't take long, and we can get Mycroft to be the witness... or Lestrade, if you'd rather your brother wasn't there. [ He smirked lightly. ] He's going to find out, though, if he hasn't already, and I kind of doubt we could really stop him from being at the ceremony.

deducing_freak October 29 2011, 05:59:23 UTC
[Oh no, there was no catch. Sherlock may have just simply been oblivious to the romance of Paris. The man just liked what he liked. Though he did notice how John's eyes suddenly lit up like they did, so the location must have been a good choice on his part.]

We'll need two witnessed, one to sign on each of our behalf. [Though as much as Sherlock really would prefer for his brother to not be there, he also knew there was no actually way of getting out of it. Seems they already had a guest list forming.]

Mycroft will be there, his assistant is never too far so she'll be with him... I'd never hear the end of it from Lestrade if we don't invite him. Then there's Mrs. Hudson. I suppose I really should tell mother... she always has been telling me to get married and settle down... though I don't think she quite meant it like this.

[ John chuckled. It seemed their wedding ceremony might not be as little as he'd imagined it might be. He'd just assumed Sherlock wouldn't want a lot of people there. ]

We'll have to invite Harry, as well, of course... probably Mike as we, since he likes to take credit for introducing us in the first place.

[ At the mention of Sherlock's mother, however... his expression softens a bit, and he absently scratches the back of his neck. ]

I haven't even met your mother yet, you know. Do you think... well, do you think she'll like me?

Reply

deducing_freak October 30 2011, 02:05:12 UTC
[Actually, he really didn't want a lot of people there. If he could actually have it his way, they'd just walk into a court room, sign some papers, and simply be done with it. No, this small guest list was simply being compiled out of obligation. Even if they didn't involve all these people, no doubt someone else would have taken it upon themselves to organize the whole thing for them anyway. Might as well maintain some control over the situation.]

Oh riiight... you haven't met mother at all, have you? Ah well, what better opportunity then this then, right? I'm sure you'll get on just fine. To be completely honest, she'll be so swept up in all this wedding business I doubt she'll even care about the circumstances and the fact I'll never be bringing her any grandchildren.

[ John chuckles quietly, wondering what it is about women and weddings. He can't imagine the mother of two sons like Mycroft and Sherlock wanting something big and fancy, but then... he can't actually imagine what she must be like. What a strong woman she must be to have sons like them... he really can't imagine those Christmas dinners. ]

Suppose we could always, you know, adopt children, if you ever got bored enough.

[ But his voice is lightly teasing. He also can't imagine the two of them with children. Not only did they not have time for a family of their own, but Sherlock was practically a child himself. ]
