I... [He furrows his brow, thinking hard, and comes up with nothing. He looks at Jack a little helplessly, a little frightened.] No. I remember cleaning the coffee machine at the end of the day. You coming down the stairs from your office. You said something, and then... I can't remember. The next thing I remember is waking up this morning.

Did you...retcon me, for some reason? [Because if Jack had, surely he had a very good reason for it.]

[He shakes his head.] I didn't, no. That doesn't mean someone hasn't. [He stands and walks from around behind his desk.]

But, who? And when would they have had the opportunity? [only torchwood has access to retcon, and if Jack had left late last night, someone would have had to break into Ianto's flat.] You know Gwen, if she had done it, she'd have left me an apologetic note. [he laughs weakly]

[Hmmm. Jack looks wrong. The Doctor can't remember exactly WHY or how there's something wrong, but just looking at him makes him feel oogy and uncomfortable. So clearly he's going to stare quite openly, frowning deeply. Subtlety is not his strong suit.]
