Action - 2 sufferrogate September 26 2011, 15:35:27 UTC
[ Why in the world did they go to a bar for a date? Aside from it being an oasis and natural habitat of sorts for the wild Mom Lalonde, I mean. Well, regardless, the Dolorosa is happily accompanying her, ah...what is she? She still has yet to actually sit down and speak with Lalonde at lengths to determine the specific description and categorization of their relationship based on both human and troll courtship. This is important, as there is a wide variety of titles she has to potentially refer to Lalonde, including but not limited to: Matesprit, girlfriend, partner, significant other, cookie, snookums, and honey-bun ( ... )

[ in spite of Dolorosa's insistence on parting ways over and over again to check on Rose and Kanaya, who she's certain don't appreciate having their own date interrupted, Lalonde is enjoying herself. There have been many bars in her life before, yes, but she hasn't really attended either of them with a purpose beyond trying out the various cocktails unique to the area. Had she been with anyone else, she would've become suspicious of Dolorosa's constant coming and going. As it stands, she knows well enough that she's doing exactly what she says she is, and so Lalonde is content to sit there, sipping from her trademark Martini ]

[ things are a little less pleasant, however, when several of the men gathered there see fit to approach her. Because naturally, a woman alone at a bar couldn't be perfectly content to merely sit there. But she humours them regardless, ensuring that they know that she isn't there alone, and then... ]

[ oh dear. And then they really do know that she isn't there alone, because one of them's just been kicked ( ... )

A cultural misunderstanding?

[ Oh no, did she misread the situation? Based on what she has seen, she had come to the conclusion that human bars are one of the few places in which humans consider fighting to be normal and nearly all altercations began with one human greeting another human's companion. She should have realized that such a situation normal for a Troll would be uncharacteristic of human society.

Oh, wait a moment, she thinks she may understand what she has done wrong. ]

I apologize, I had forgotten that a rhetorical question requesting the purpose of one's interaction with another's romantic companion is the accepted method of inserting oneself into a situation such as this. Please allow me to begin again.

Ahem.

[ She turns to one of her target's companions. She will get this right and not embarrass Ms Lalonde!! ]

I would like to inquire as to the reason for why you are currently communicating with this particular present lady who happens to be accompanying me, which you likely were not aware of due to my absence.

[ well, this could take some time. With a sigh, Lalonde rests her elbow on the counter, leaning over to one of the less startled looking barmaids and orders herself another cocktail. It is more than a little flattering to have someone so willing to fight for her honour, literally and otherwise, and she may as well have a drink to enjoy while she watches it all unfold. The companions of the man now sporting a bruised ribcage are currently busy helping him to his feet, and they glance at one another, brow furrowed, as Dolorosa questions them. They manage to get out a Errr... lady, it's a bar. It's what happens, but seem wise enough to be wary of Dolorosa ]

I think you've marked your territory well enough, darling. Do sit back down. We might not be kicked out onto the street if you remain composed enough, and I'd rather not have to leave yet. Judging by the number of people shaking off umbrellas as they come in, I'd wager that it's raining.

[ If only Ms. Lalonde had picked a far less classier bar, one in which there would be individuals drunk and/or rude enough to actually try to face down a towering horned alien for her beautiful human companion. Then she would see some honor being fought for. Right now, Dolorosa is simply participating in what she thinks to be a normal situation in human culture.

Regardless, her lipstick chainsaw will remain sheathed and bottles will remain unbroken and not used as makeshift weaponry. She sits back down beside Ms Lalonde as requested. ]

Rain? Wonderful. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to practice another part of human courtship in that case, assuming it to still be raining when we do inevitably leave.

Trust me, you're already far more chivalrous than most. Rain or no rain, I believe I will feel thoroughly wooed by the night's end. [ she glances over at the gathered barstaff, and gives them a look that says everything is fine, entirely under control, but thank you regardless. She gives her potential suitors a pleasant wave, and with a confused stare, they slowly back off ] Now, where were we? I take it the children are well.

[ She makes no objections, though she is confident there is likely to be plenty of puddles to make use of once they leave, even if the rain stops; she wants to make use of the strange human custom of placing one's jacket over water to allow one's companion to walk over it without dirtying her clothing.

Although she always wonders why they simply do not walk around the puddles.

Anyway, she grins a bit at the suggestion of successful wooing. ]

They seem to be quite well; in fact, Rose suggested they are so well that the two of us should take as much additional time for ourselves as we see fit, which I found to be quite considerate.

Considerate, yes. I'm certain my darling daughter has no ulterior motives whatsoever in wishing we stay out longer. [ she idly considers Rose having found her way into the alcohol cupboard, and then wonders just how proud of her she'd be ] But enough about them. How are you finding this establishment? We could always go elsewhere if it's not to your liking.

I can hardly say as to whether or not it is to my liking, due to some combination of its unfamiliarity being fascinating and your presence possessing the power to make any establishment enjoyable. I am afraid that so long as you are present, I will be unable to judge this locale on its own merit.

Goodness. [ she props her chin on her palm, gaze nothing short of adoring ] How long have you had that rehearsed?

[ Contentedly smiling. ]

Unless you take into consideration the miniscule amount of time required for the thoughts in my mind to become words in my mouth, I will assert that I have not had it rehearsed and it was, in fact, a spur-of-the-moment statement.

However, rehearsed or not is a bit moot, as it makes my statement no less true.
