[ on the brightest of sides, it's not carter that's stirring beside him. sure, she looks just like that ridiculously effeminate man with a rather huge selection of bitter words and a habit of not being able to stop teasing ever, but it's still not him. no. this morning it's piper, worriedly searching for her glasses
( ... )
*he wasn't one to take people home, but this is what happens when he's convinced to drink. He does weird stuff, and apparently this time it was going home with Carter.* Um.... hello... *he had no clue what do say aside from that, since she just seemed to be trying to escape*
[ escape? no... not quite. well, yes, she's trying to get away from this... strange place with the strange person in bed beside her, she could only assume male from the blurry shape on the bed when she'd glanced before getting up. but she's not trying to escape. piper lifts her head, her messy head of hair tousled about.
hardly seeing eyes stare at him and she squints a bit as if it'll help him get into focus. it does seem like she was right and that carter decided on a man this time. good. it's so much easier to walk away from a man than a woman. she continues to stare hard at him before lifting her hands to ask in sign language, two different types, where her glasses are.
Hi. Do you know where I put my glasses?that's all she asks, both in British sign language and in American sign language, just in case he knows one or the other. of course, she highly doubts it, but without her glasses, she can't really find a paper and pen to write out her question. so, hand gestures that may mean nothing to him are about as good as she can get
( ... )
*Rick knew sign language, but it mostly consisted of saying his name, geek, and being able to say he can't dance, and be able to call someone a horny turtle... don't ask. Anyway, he looks at her slightly confused*
Um... is something wrong? Are you looking for glasses? *he starts looking for the glasses as well now*
[ she gives a sunshiny smile at that second question and gives him a thumbs up. there we go. much better. at least he got... part of that. thank whatever gods there are out there for the small favour of at least giving her someone with an idea of what she could be saying. she crawls down to the floor, mindful of where she's settling her weight.
oh, she'll be so mad if she can't find them here. she needs those things. carter may not need them, but she does. she can't see anything at the moment in the room aside from the fuzziness all around her that doesn't seem to end. she stretches out her arms around her, feeling blindly about for glasses. so far, no such luck. she'll relay that.
Can't find them. Do you know where they might be?once again in bsl and asl, just in case once again. she didn't find out if he could understand one or the other, but she's fine with that. as long as she's not having to remember japanese sign language, she's more than all right with that. she listens closely to him when she ducks back to the floor,
( ... )
Hope you don't mind him having an abilityselfmade_heroSeptember 24 2011, 20:55:55 UTC
*he watches her as she signs, he got the "not" part, and he thinks she said "see" and then something. Was she saying she couldn't see without them? Then he saw the second sentence, and got "you know", one of the five W questions(who, what, where, when, why), and pointing around, which gave him an idea of what she was finally asking*
No, I don't know.... maybe if I saw a picture, I could help you find them better. *or maybe try to use his ability to make another pair until he can find the originals, either or*
you don't seem to mind her personalities.piperandcoSeptember 24 2011, 23:11:59 UTC
[ she practically pouts when he's just staring at her trying to watch her hands closely. she moves slowly to sit up on her knees, pressing her mouth into a thin line as she thinks it over. she holds her hand up like she's trying to draw with a pen. if a picture will help, she doesn't see why she shouldn't just show him a picture of it.
her hands hold towards him. surely, this isn't the same person as the night before. carter would be awake and chiding him about how he's had better. this woman, however, is practically blind without her glasses, squinting to even see the carpet properly, and unable to speak. this is obviously not who he went home with. ]
*it is definitely not, especially since the person from last night talked, as did when they first met. Rick figured it may be some form of mute-ism due to being in stressful situations, such as waking up after a night of sex. He takes her hand and helps her to walk, trying his best not to ogle her body*
[ not what she was going for, but the help standing is nice. she's wearing what carter had dressed her in the previous night, a tight mini skirt and her boots. somewhere in this room is her shirt and her glasses. maybe if she were to be given a pen she could draw it out for him. she grabs the dresser nearby and begins to search along the top there for a pen, previous quest denied for the newer one.
she holds a hand up and signs out P-E-N to get him to help her search for it as well. she glances over her shoulder and waves towards her things.
There should be paper and a pen down there. Can you check?
oblivious he's looking her over in this high-waisted mini skirt and her bra? yes, she definitely is. she doesn't notice any of that in the least, and it's really hard to even notice where it is he's looking, other than the fact she can feel his eyes on her. ]
[ give her a moment. she squints down at the paper and sketches them out pretty quickly. even rushed, her art is rather lovely. she glances up from her doodle and points to the paper. black framed glasses that look like they might've been on the face of a nerd back in the seventies. piper smiles a bit then, pointing at the bottom of that paper.
*damn, he could make a reasonable facsimile but nothing like the originals since he didn't know the prescription. However, now time to ask the question that would lead to a horrible truth*
What happened to whatever you were using last night? You didn't need your glasses then.
[ that makes her head drop. this is exactly the conversation she was avoiding. she turns back away from him, hands following along the flat of the dresser in search of her second pair of eyes. she'll pretend she didn't hear that, hands finding the inside of her purse. she searches about having to dump the contents onto the empty space there to run her fingers through them.
she finds them there. perhaps she should have started looking in this bag before looking everywhere else. pushing them over her face, the room is suddenly a lot clearer. she gives a small sort of sigh at the ability to see once more and begins tucking things back into her purse. next she just needs to find her blouse.
she turns around again, smiling softly now, a harsh difference from the rudeness of carter. hands up once again, without the notepad again, she offers him a few signs.
*he pauses, looking around and then shakes his head. Considering how she's acting, he decides to ask something big*
Ok, two questions, and I apologize for the language. 1) What's with the ASL? 2) What the hell happened to the mouthy bitch who I was dealing with last night?
[ ...well, fuck. as much as she'd enjoyed avoiding this topic all together, she reaches forward for her pen and paper in his hands. her mouth presses into a firm line. she references towards her throat when she opens it again in a show that she's attempting to say something.
hand moving back to the notebook, she tears off the first page, crumpling it and dropping it to the floor carelessly while she forms sentences in her head that are soon written out in neat handwriting that could be mistaken for sloppy from the way she'd written out her first question for him.
"I can't talk. And, I don't know who you're talking about. Are you sure you're feeling all right? There was a lot of alcohol."
she'll just... make something up. carter had to have had alcohol. that's usually how these things happen, right? ]
