Aw, dork! I'm sorry! That's why I unlick that box on the message notif settings.mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 01:17:56 UTC
[ John would have argued that he hardly needed a 'reward' for putting up with Sherlock. Really, all the adventures they went on was reward enough. And he did love the man, after all - and all of the traits and qualities that made him the extraordinary man he really was. The good doctor couldn't help himself, really - he hardly cared what people thought about them anymore. That had stopped quite a long time ago. And really, people had already assumed they were dating before they actually were, anyway. Wanting to show his appreciation and feelings for this man, he leaned over just enough to cup his hand about Sherlock's cheek and give the other a brief, but good and proper, tender kiss. There would always be time later for him to show his appreciation better, in the privacy of their flat. ]
I still wish I gotten you something, but thank you, love. Its the finest watch I've ever owned, no doubt about that. [ He stroked the other's cheek gently once, before settling back. Their drinks had just arrived, after all. The waiter took their orders - John ordered a fairly light meal, as he'd had a large lunch with, yes, his sister, Harry, that day - then the two were alone again. ] So not that I'm complaining, of course, but what's the occasion?
I... I did not even know there was such a box. /is an idiotdeducing_freakOctober 11 2011, 01:42:21 UTC
[He wasn't opposed to these little public displays they shared every so often. Granted, the detective wasn't too keen on it while he was working a case but John understood that Sherlock's mind just wasn't in the right place during times like that. So he'd gladly return the sentiment of thanks just before it was time to make their orders. Of course, he wouldn't be eating much but at least he was eating. Sherlock had slowly gotten into the habit of having at least one real meal a day, doctor's orders of course.]
Oh, well ah... it's nothing special really [At least, that was just how he was playing it off as anyway. Sherlock wasn't the most graceful when it came to these situations so he busied himself with pouring each of them a glass of wine while he explained.] Just that, Lestrade had mentioned you earlier today and I explained that you were actually out with your sister. We got onto the topic of how long me and you had come to know each other... which... inevitably led to the idea of picking up a little something for you... and I know we haven't had the chance to go out, just us, without a criminal involved so I made reservations.
*pets* Its ok! I didn't know about it at first. mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 02:26:19 UTC
[ And John had tried a few times, as well, to show his affection during a case. Briefly, of course, and only when Sherlock deduced something brilliant, and he just couldn't hold back from giving the other a quick kiss - along with the customary 'brilliant!' or 'fantastic!' He'd accidentally done it once when Lestrade was around, and the older man had a bit of fun at their expense, teasing them about it. But usually, yes, they didn't actually snog a lot while on a case, or actually go skipping running down the streets of London, hand in hand.]
Good man, Lestrade. [ John smirked lightly after listening to Sherlock's explanation. He reached over to cover the detective's hand briefly with his own and give it one squeeze. ] Thank you for all of this, Sherlock. Its perfect. Really.
[ Sitting back, he took a sip of his wine, before countering oh-so-thoughtfully: ] Should we make today our official anniversary then?
this is why I need you around xD to tell me about silly little things like thisdeducing_freakOctober 11 2011, 02:54:30 UTC
[One of the reasons they didn't go skipping about on cases would be all due to the fact that Sherlock had no idea how to skip in the first place, not to mention... that would just be silly. The detective would more then likely fall flat on his face in the process.]
I suppose we could consider this our anniversary, though it is still just short of a year... the only reason I hadn't waited longer was because I wanted to give this to you right away. [That and he'd probably end up losing it somewhere for John or even Mrs. Hudson to stumble upon it sometime later which would have completely ruined this perfect moment they were sharing together right now. Sherlock held his wine gracefully, reaching over to gently clink their glasses together with a small smile.] Bon Anniversaire, John.
That's what I'm here for!mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 03:29:03 UTC
[ John wouldn't be surprised if Sherlock was quite talented at skipping, actually. He made everything look so bloody easy with the fluid grace of his tall, lean form. The doctor couldn't help but be jealous sometimes. He wasn't exactly completely clumsy, but he would never share the other's seemingly perfect form. ]
It might as well be our anniversary, right? [ His smile widened as he clinked his glass against the other's. ] Indeed. Cheers. Here's to many more years of solving mysteries and not getting ourselves killed in the process. [ And many other things, of course, but that was what made their lives so interesting. Without it, they really would be just an old married couple! Not that there was anything wrong with that, of course, but they had lots of good, exciting years left in them to take ridiculous risks and enjoy being fairly young. ]
Well, since I didn't get you anything, I suppose I'll just have to make it up to you when we get home. [ He shrugged a shoulder casually, something decidedly suggesting glinting in his eyes as he gazed at the other over his wine glass. ]
Might as well. [It wasn't like they were a very traditional couple anyway, so they were free to make up whatever anniversary date they deemed acceptable. Today was just as good a day as any, except.. it was today, and that's what made it so special. No doubt they'll have many days and even years together. That in itself would prove to a different kind of adventure all it's own. John would most likely blog about that too if given the chance, a sort of Taming Of The Shrew type of thing most likely.]
Hnn?!
[Sherlock had to quickly recover from nearly spilling his drink all over himself and thusly ruining yet another shirt with alcohol. John had murmured something so subtle and calmly that it begged the detective's attention. Perhaps he was listening a bit too closely as he had to regain his composure some, now setting his glass down as he straightened his back casually.] Oh, w-well ah... if you so insist, who am I to deny a kind gesture.
:D We're such a team.mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 05:29:55 UTC
[ John likes that he still has this effect on his partner - that saying something like that so casually can catch Sherlock completely off guard. He can't help it, he chuckles quietly in amusement, but he does feel a bit bad about ruining another one of his nice shirts. ]
Thought you would agree. [ He was looking somewhat smug, too, and had to bite his lower lip lightly. ] Don't worry, we'll get you right out of that shirt, too... so the stain won't set in, of course. [ And then, returning to a more domestic side - ] I'll get it washed straight away. Can't believe I didn't bring the tide-to-go pen with me. Sorry.
*holds hands and SKIPS LIKE A BAWSS* >:Ddeducing_freakOctober 11 2011, 05:54:45 UTC
[Okay so he was still somewhat getting used to the fact that he was indeed in a relationship, a functioning one anyway. Well, somewhat functioning. Still, Sherlock will most likely never learn to not underestimate John. Seems the good doctor had picked up on a few of his sly traits. That smug grin on his face was proof of that.] Right. The stain. Of course.
[There's a faint smirk as the detective shakes his head. John would be the type to have a bleach pen on him. But it's only a shirt, so there's no big loss there.]
*YESS I DON'T SKIP ENOUGH*mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 06:37:30 UTC
[ What? Its a good shirt, don't knock it. John is getting tired of having to keep buying him new shirts when he ruins them, and forgets to get them into the wash quick enough. Smirking just a bit, he does lean forward to dab a napkin on Sherlock's shirt some, not caring that they're in public when there's a perfectly good shirt to be saved. And a chest to 'accidentally' touch. Whoops. ]
Well. Suppose it will just have to wait until after our meal, then.
*AND THERE ARE RAINBOWS AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND NOTHING EVER HURTS OMFG*deducing_freakOctober 11 2011, 06:56:10 UTC
[By now, Sherlock had gotten used to John's 'mother hen-ing' over him. It wasn't that the detective never took care of his appearance, he was just a little lazy with it that's all. John was always the one to fix his collar, adjust his tie, make sure his shirt was tucked in straight, even pick the little bit of fluff off his coat when he couldn't stand to look at it anymore.]
I'm sure it can wait. [That was when he felt the other's fingers only slightly graze across the small portion of exposed skin and the detective locked their gaze.] The question is, can you..?
Wow. xD Yes. That is our lovely world of crack!mightbebloggingOctober 11 2011, 15:06:02 UTC
[ John swallowed, but didn't break that gaze. Truth be told, yes, this entire evening - the lovely restaurant reservations, the incredibly generous watch he'd been given, and then this new development... it all made the doctor want to show his appreciation to Sherlock that much more. And when that man was looking at him like that, it was usually all over. But two could play at this game. Their food hadn't arrived yet, after all, and he wasn't completely sure he'd rather dine in with take-out again when they never ate out at a place like this. ]
Give me some credit. I have a bit more self-control than that, darling.
[He only replied with a knowing smile, taking John's hand and laying a gentle kiss on top before settling back into his seat again. Because Sherlock knew how to lay the charm on, thick. It was the more traditional way of flirting of course.]
So how's Harry? [Switching over the topic of discussion. John rarely ever talked about his sister so it was an interesting turn of events when the doctor went out for a lunch date with her.] I'm sure she was glad to have heard from you.
[ John smirked lightly after the hand kiss and Sherlock's usual 'charm,' before reaching for his wine glass to take another sip. When the other asked about his sister, he cleared his throat lightly. ]
She's ah.... good, she's good. Got a handle on her drinking problem, and things seem to be better with Clara. They're civil, anyway. [ He shrugs a shoulder a bit. John always had been fond of Clara, so it was always a sore subject between them. ] She actually... wants to meet you, sometime. [ John arched a brow at him with a wry half-grin. ]
[Sherlock would refrain from making any sort of snarky comments. Drinkers, especially those who had been at it for a long while, rarely ever fully recover. It would only be a matter of time before the relapse, then Harry and Clara's relation would be thrown into jeopardy yet again. But John liked Clara, never even so much as uttered a bad word about her, so he'd keep shut by taking up his glass again for a drink.]
Hm? Me? She wants to meet me? [He seemed more confused then anything else as he gently sets the glass down again.] So you told her then?
[ That was good of Sherlock. John's relationship with Harry had been rather tense for a while now, to say the very least. He nods at the first question, and then his brow furrows a bit more as he considers the second, searching his partner's face closely. ]
Yeah, yeah I did. She actually sort of just... figured it out on her own, really. Said she'd guessed as much a long time ago. I'm sure you've seen some of the comments she's made on my blog. Harry thought I had thing from you from the beginning, really. [ John smirks a bit, reaching up a hand to absently scratch the back of his head. ] She wasn't completely wrong on that one. Anyway, is that alright? I'll give you fair warning before bringing her round for tea or something.
[So hey may or may not have been comfortable with the idea of meeting John's family, but in all fairness John had the unfortunate chance of meeting his brother so in all fairness Sherlock could at least return the favor without complaining about it.]
Oh no, no... it's quite alright I suppose. [The woman sure could talk up a storm though. He knew this by overhearing Johns rare phone conversations with his sister. Sherlock was only a conversationalist whenever the topic was something of interest. He sort of doubted there would be any such talk during her visitation.]
I look forward to it.
[Since when had he gotten so accustomed to lying just to make John happy...?]
