[He's been dating Ruby for a few weeks now, and has noticed her red cloak is getting a little tattered. While Oliver's not sure why it's so important to her, he knows he wants to get her a new one. So he calls a few contacts, getting the finest material, and having a designer friend make it for him. When it arrives, he's excited to give it to her so he goes to her grandmother's diner, wrapped box in hand, and goes up to the counter.]

Hi, beautiful.

Hey there, gorgeous. [Ruby spins on her heel at his voice, leaning over the counter to steal a quick kiss. They were dating. Which was a weird thought for her because she'd been reluctant to have any kind of relationship, especially with someone who didn't realize what she was, but Oliver had been persistent.]

What's in the box?

How is my favorite girl? [He's never really felt like this for someone. Ruby's special and he knows that, even though he can't put his finger on what makes her special. But when she asks about the box, he sets it on the counter and grins.]

It's a gift, for you.

Better now that you're here. What'd I do to earn a gift? [She takes the box, shaking it gently, and excitedly pulling the paper off. Ruby runs her hand over the beautiful red fabric, thinking at first that he's gotten her a dress, but her smile falters when she lifts it up and the hood falls back. A new cloak.]

Thank you, Oliver. It's lovely. [Ruby tucks it back in the box before anyone in the diner sees. He's commented on her cloak before, having caught her curled up in it, but she didn't think anything of it.]

Open it, and then I'll tell you. [He's excited for her to see the cloak he's gotten her. However, when her smile falters and she practically shoves it back into the box, his excitement fades. Has he done something wrong?]

You don't like it. [It's more of a comment than a question, and he starts to grab for the box.] I just thought you'd like a new one since your old one looks a little tattered. I'm sorry. I can return it.

No, that's not it. [She keeps it from his grasp, holding the box to her chest as she circles the counter to his side.] It's beautiful. Don't return it. It's just that Granny gave me my cloak when I was younger. It - it makes me feel safe.

[She isn't sure if she's ready to tell him the whole truth yet, and certainly not in the middle of the diner. It's a wonder no one has warned him yet anyways, but she's enjoyed playing at being a normal girl.]

[He loosens his grip on the box and let's her take it. Oliver then listens and nods his head in understanding.] I didn't know, and I should have asked before I had it made.

You don't even have to war it if you don't want to.

It was sweet of you to notice. I really do appreciate it. [Once she's sure Oliver won't try to take the gift back she sets it on the counter again. Ruby's arms loop around his neck, pressing a sweet little kiss to his lips.]

I want to wear it. I could try it on tonight for you. I've got a cute pair of heels that would match perfectly. [Smirks, trying to make it right since he had been in such a good mood before her reaction spoiled it.]

[The moment Ruby's close and kissing him, Oliver's all but forgotten about the cloak. His arms snake around her body and he holds her close.]

Hmm, I lke the sound of that. Maybe I can make us dinner tonight, and we can spend the evening in.

First gifts and now you're going to cook? You're going to spoil me. [Gran is bound to come out and yell at her any minute now, but she is perfectly content in his arms. Eventually they'll have to have the discussion about her cloak, but Ruby figures they can wait a little while longer.]

I'll come over after work.

[The strain of it all has finally gotten to be too much. She's finally at breaking point: she can't be Charming's whiter-than-white princess anymore. She can't be sweet, mild Mary Margaret, everyone's darling.

She killed Cora; it was the right thing to do and she's made herself sick being sorry for it. But deep down, she can't regret it. She just can't. Because deep down, she's not the perfect princess, or the small town sweetheart.

Deep down, she's the vagabond princess who lived by her wits and lied, stole and fought to stay alive. And deep down, she knows that the one person who really knows her like that, who loves her for her fierceness, is her Red, and walking away from what they had might've been the biggest mistake of her life. (But again, she can't quite regret it because Emma.

She sends a text -- I'm in the cabin in the forest. Can you get away? -- and waits. There's a fire in the grate, a bottle of wine and a supper of rabbit stew and fresh bread. Aside from the wine, it's a little blast from the past.]

[The text is a little bit of a surprise. For all their joking about running off to a cabin somewhere, of just the two of them leaving, she didn't actually expect her to go through with it. Not when Charming and Emma were waiting at home for her.

With a quick and simple text back (On my way) she dropped everything and headed out towards the woods, worried but still more than a little excited. It was like going home after so long, especially when she caught the smell of rabbit stew as she got closer.

Ruby let herself in and stood in the doorway. She'd apparently been in the middle of settling down for the night when she'd run out of the house; button down red blouse still on, paired with gray pajama shorts, flip flops, and her big fur coat.] Snow? Are you alright?

[There's an electrical generator out back, and Snow had cranked it up to cook, but when Ruby arrives, the place is warmed by the fire and glowing amber from the candles she has burning. It's like a blast from the past.

Mary Margaret had gotten to her feet at the sound of the approaching car, and when Ruby enters, she's greeted with a warm embrace. A moment later, she pulls back and kisses her warmly and passionately.

It's the first thing in a long time that feels exactly right.]

[Her arms instantly curl around Mary Margaret when she comes close enough, gentle and welcoming. It's the kiss that throws her through a loop. It is all too easy to fall into old habits, kissing her back like nothing had changed between them, and with the set up at the cabin it's almost like nothing has. At least for the moment. Once she pulls away the guilt starts to creep in. Mary Margaret has a family, a husband - more than that, they've shown it was true love time and time again.] Sweetie?

I miss you. I miss us. I--I miss who I was when it was us.

[Her fingers feather tenderly through Ruby's gorgeous thick hair, a luxurious familiar old gesture, scritching slightly at the other woman's scalp] And you are so beautiful by candlelight.
