One would expect a thief, especially one very very good at her job, to be good at sneaking up on people. Even in heels. Which is why he gets absolutely no warning before Wendy drapes herself over his shoulders, arms loosely around his shoulders and cheek against his. Have a hug, oh favoritest pal of ours. Promise it isn't going to get you into more trouble.

"Whatcha doing?"

If it doesn’t get him into trouble, he’ll figure something is wrong.

Tuck had been bent over his desk for the last few hours, crafting a new identity for the latest addition to the unit. He’d met Guy over in Munich, supplied the documents to bring him stateside quietly. Now he was working on the standard welcome package. Credit cards, license, the usual bundle. He grins at the stealth hug, catching her hand and pressing his cheek to hers.

“Heya darlin. Workin on the basics for the new guy since he’s coming off the DL. What’re you up to, aside from sneaking up on folks?”

"What, is sneaking up on you not a good enough reason?" The words are accompanied by a gentle nudge of the head, voice almost a pout if not for the smile on her face.

"I've been kicked out of the office. Apparently my restlessness is a bad influence on the children." Her tone says exactly what she thinks of that. Mostly that the 'children,' meaning the Twins, were a bad enough influence on their own. Standing back up, her hands move from being clasped around his arms to rub at the inevitable knots in his shoulders and neck from being hunched over his worktable.

"What's the new guy's name?"

"The children are a bad influence on themselves," he snorts. "I think that's why Gabe likes 'em so much. Trouble number One, Two and Three right there."

Tuck groans as her skilled fingers find the knots that always crop up in his neck. Best friend slash partner in crime ever. Really. He'll wear a Hello Kitty hat every day if he gets this kind of treatment. "You, my dear, are made of magic."

"Jake Dempsey. Guy of Gisborne on his file. New legbreaker slash fast talker. Just getting off the DL after a deal went bust in Europe."

"Course that's why. I think he thrives off the chaos, honestly. But ask either one of the girls, and amazingly I'm suddenly the bad influence." She makes a brief rude noise, fingers kneading out one particularly tight spot at the nape of his neck. She is fairly magic, and has had enough practice giving backrubs--especially to friends who spend too much time hunched over a desk--that she knows exactly where to hit and how. Now, he will be putty in her hands. Fortunately for him, she shan't take advantage of this fact. This time.

"....Really? The new guy's codename is 'Guy?'" She gives the second 'Guy' the proper french pronunciation, but her voice says she's clearly amused by the coincidence. Leaning over to inspect Tuck's work as her hands continue their work on his shoulders, she makes an approving noise.

"Well, hello, Mr. Dempsey."

"That's because they're no fun at all." His head tips forward with a grateful groan. It was like her fingers knew all the right knots to hit and just how hard to hit them. Tuck doesn't mind being putty in her hands. So far, it's netted him a fairly unique hat and a rather interesting set of stories involving stolen fire trucks and a ball pit.

"I don't pick the names, but that's the one he got. Lucky him, right?"

Tuck snorts out a laugh as he finishes up his passport, leaving the page to dry beneath a warm lamp. "Hey, I saw you first."

He's teasing of course. He and Wendy are pals, and after things went sideways with his last couple of relationships, Tuck is calling a hold on anything that moves beyond flirting for a good, long while.

Those massaging hands pause for a brief second as she looks at him, one eyebrow raised and a smile playing at the corner of her mouth. "Calling dibs, are we? And here you haven't ever said anything of the sort to me."

Teasing, for the two of them, is second nature. They've been friends for a while now, after all. The Lifted Ball Pit Caper had only been the latest in a string of ridiculous adventures. He was safe and comfortable, one of the few men she could be herself around, could talk to without playing the angles and waiting for betrayal. And while she liked him, quite a bit in fact, Wendy found herself unwilling in the slightest to even think about trying to change that.

Tuck winks. He's one of the few in Grimm who hasn't been doing an excessive amount of bed-slash-desk hopping. Not that he was averse, but it wasn't really his thing. While he flirts as easily as he breathes, that's where it ends pretty much every time.

"Hey, a guy's gotta look out for his best pal and partner in crime," he teases.

Wendy is one of his dearest friends, and while their sideline adventures are rapidly becoming the stuff of legend, he also has no real intent to pursue anything deeper with her. He's completely happy having her as his best pal and partner in crime.

That gets a laugh from her, and a kiss on the cheek.

"Good to know you've only got my best interests at heart, darling. Shall I bring all prospective dates by so you can get an interrogation in, make sure they're good enough for me? Or will you give me a list of those found worthy?"

Not that she's particularly looking, and especially not in Grimm, but hey.

"I think the standard 32-page application will do. That and an extensive background check." Tuck grins at the kiss. "It's the big brother in me. Always lookin out for my favorites."

Let's face it, unless they're into psycho and or unstable? Pickings are kind of slim.

One hand reaches up to ruffle his hair as she goes back to the backrub she was giving him, hands absently kneading at his shoulders.

"If that's the case, then turnabout's fair play, sweetheart. I'm thinking obstacle course, for all your future prospective girlfriends. Or maybe just an hour alone in a room with the Twins."

Evil? Yes. Very. But she's rather protective of him, after all.

Magic, Wendy. Pure magic.

"An hour with the Twins? Tryin to keep me all to yourself I see. They'll run damned near everyone off in under ten minutes." He tsks and pushes the last of the paperwork under the warming lamp to dry. "Unless that's part of your evil master plan. Keep your partner in crime unattached for hijinks at a moment's notice?"

The protective vibe had taken him a little getting used to, but that didn't mean it was unappreciated. Most of the time it was him looking out for other people. His brother, the younger Grimm members, hell, he'd been watching Marion since his promotion and was there to steal away the excess work so he didn't wind up buried.

"But at least if she survives, you'll know she really cares?"

His next sentence gets a rude noise and something that's almost a giggle. "Drat, you've caught on. Guess I'll have to come up with some other diabolical scheme to keep you all to myself."

And it was nice, having someone that trusted her to take care of them. Not that he needed it, really, he was perfectly capable of taking care of himself. But, well, she wanted to. He looked out for her, after all. It was only fair that she return the favor.
