That gets a chuckle, followed by a wince. Yep, her ribs are definitely bruised, but Hill doesn't really care. She's just glad they've both made it through the past twenty-four hours. Unlike so many. Unlike Coulson. That thought sobers her, and she moves to sit up.
"I'm definitely going to need the R&R because the next couple of days are not going to be easy." She rubs her face with her hands. "A lot of people are going to want answers about what happened, and they're not going to be happy with what we have to say.
"We're damn lucky the attack was confined to Midtown," Hill adds. "But that's a double-edged sword. I'm sure there will be morons who want to say that it was Earth-based terrorists who tried to take out the city. Being confronted with the fact that we're not alone in the universe isn't something a lot of people are comfortable with. I think astrophysicists are probably the only ones who'd be thrilled with the idea. Everyone else? Not so much."
Hill turns her head to look at him, and for the first time, she sees what Coulson had: Rogers really is a hero. One of the few she's met. When she first heard about him being discovered in the Arctic, she'd thought his remains had been found. But she'd been wrong, and Coulson had taken her to school on why Rogers was so special. Now, she believes it. He's not just the propaganda tool she'd once thought he'd been, and she can't help but feel a bit guilty for ever considering him, or any of the others, a joke.
"You should probably get checked out, too." A hand reaches towards him and she wipes away some of the soot from his cheek with her thumb. "And you could definitely use a shower."
