Hey Dana, do you want the Blue Moon or the Purple Haze? [Baby held up two bottles in question, examining the mixed six-pack they'd bought at the liquor store down the street.]
Uh, the Purple Haze I guess. [Dana shrugged, looking up and over at Baby as he studied the two bottles in his hand. Her thick hair was piled up on her head, knotted in a sort of sloppy bun as she flipped through a bunch of old books she'd gotten from Bobby. So far though, she'd just gotten a lot of dust on her hands.]
[Baby twisted off the top, kicking the crappy motel fridge shut as he walked over to deliver Dana's beer. He leaned over, looking at the book Dana currently had open. Not that he could read any of it - even if he was able to read normally, he was pretty sure the book was in Latin.] Find anything?
Ugh, no. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for any more Baby. Sam was always better at this than I was...smarter than me. [She grumbled, the words slipping her lips effortlessly as she gratefully took the beer to take a long swig.]
He's not smarter than you, he just enjoys research. Pretty sure he lives for it, actually. [Baby flopped onto the bed, popping off his top and taking a swig of his beer.] If ever a guy needed to get laid, it would be him. Bet you $10 he'd be a helluva lot more relaxed. We should take him to a bar and wing for him.
[Dana was feeling a little...funny, fuzzy around the edges almost. There was no way she was drunk already though and she shook her head clear, flipping the book in front of her shut with a loud thud.]
Like I haven't tried that a thousand times. Sam does what he wants, and that includes being celibate or not. I don't know why he doesn't get some more often than he does, if he wasn't my brother I'd probably bang him. [...wait, what the hell did she just say? She blinked, wondering where those words came from and hoped Baby would over look it.]
[If she wasn't Dana, she would have blushed. But as it was, she repressed it and just felt an embarrassed heat wash over her. Dana didn't really mean that, in like, a creepy incest way. Not at fucking all. She didn't want to sleep with Sam! But what she said was sort of true, in a purely hypothetical, going by his looks scenario, and that's why she said what she did.
Or rather, she had been thinking it and the words flew out of her mouth.
Pressing her lips together tightly, she silently took another long swig from her beer, feeling weird still.]
[Baby could see that Dana hadn't meant it in an inappropriate way - for all the dysfunction in the Winchester family, that, at least, wasn't a problem - but the way it had just slipped out so matter-of-fact was...strange.]
So...now that we've established that Sam inherited the attractive-Winchester gene too, [Baby joked, trying to stamp out the awkward.] Do you think this thing is a shapeshifter?
What else could it be? [Baby stretched out across the bed, rolling his head from side to side. He kept waking up in the most awkward positions, and it wasn't helping his neck.]
Got no fucking clue right now. [And that was the truth. It could easily be a multitude of things and she needed more to go one before she could narrow down the list.
Turning to study Baby, she stood up from her seat to stroll over, peering down at him with a concerned look.] You okay?
Well it kills people, we know that. [Baby took another swig of his beer, looking up at Dana as she approached. He smiled flirtatiously, ignoring the pain in his neck as his movements ebbed it away.] Yeah, I'm fine; how're you?
Smiling a bit though at the look he gave her, she was fully prepared to reply with a teasing answer, but that was not what came out of her mouth.]
This job is stressing me out, and more people keep dying that I can't save, and I should figure this out faster, but damn it, despite everything you say, I'm just not that smart Baby. On top of that, I still feel like I'm a complete nut job and may have a break down at any moment, since the whole you dying thing and all, and I don't want you anywhere near cases with me because it's not safe. But I also don't want to leave you behind anywhere and instead selfishly keep you with me because I need to see you and feel you constantly. [Everything tumbled out of her mouth and she let out a soft breath when she finished, blinking and taking a step back from him.]
[Baby's flirty expression immediately dropped from his face, mouth popping open, literally. He dropped his beer as Dana stepped away, scrambling to set it right as it spilled onto the cheap carpet.]
Dana...what? [Baby wanted to address the issues, but he honestly didn't know what to say first. He rolled off the bed, crouching somewhat defensively as he eyed her. Was this even Dana? Baby wasn't sure; the words had sounded plausibly accurate to him, but there was no way she'd ever admit something like that freely to him.]
