She wasn't generally his type, really. Pan preferred a more knowing type of girl, someone who thought they knew exactly what he was doing. Because they never did, so that just added some more fun to the scenario.

But innocence could be a lovely change of pace.

"Excuse me, miss?" he said softly.

He should really send Eros flowers for introducing him to this particular playground.

It's a beautiful thing. Pan can't wait to play, but these things have steps, so he just smiled and offered his arm.

"Maybe if we walk somewhere less crowded?"

"Thank you, miss." It's like there's never been a cloud in the sky as he beams at her. "I knew you looked like a sweet girl."

Not that it's surprising. Most people tell her that.

"Maybe not, but more unusual than you'd think, darling." The endearments aren't so much personal as habit, which comes through in his voice. It's the type of mannerism that comes out when he's digging for something he can use, and he smiles when he finds it.

Lancelot.

"I forgot to introduce myself, I'm sorry," he says. "It's Gareth. Lancelot was my cousin."

Elani stared at him for a long moment, rather taken aback, and the shock certainly shows on her face.

Lancelot.

It's a bit like getting punched in the gut, she thinks, to have that reminder of him thrown at her all of a sudden. And Gareth looks a little like him, she thinks, now that he mentions it.

But mostly she's thinking about how much she misses the man. At least she manages to keep the quaver out of her voice when she finally remembers to speak again, "I-...didn't know he had a cousin. I-i'm sorry for your loss." The latter words are rote, expected, because it's not his loss she's sorry about.
