This is... nice. [claudia doesn't seem to be bothered by simply lounging on the couch. friends do these things, right? she doesn't have too many of those, and, well, she could just be misinterpreting this for something that's just friendly. that's all right with her, however. she smiles, leaning her head back to prop against his shoulder and stretching her legs out further.] How come we don't do things like this more often?
Just after their first doctors appointment, Quinn stepped from the elevator into the lobby of the medical building with her arms wrapped loosely around her middle. She was definitely pregnant, completely healthy, and just a little bit miserable.
Adam didn't know why she wouldn't let him come with her. He wasn't gonna push it though. So he just sat in the lobby waiting. He stood up when he saw her step off the elevator and walked over to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "What did the doctor say?"
Quinn hadn't actually said he couldn't come with her. He just had stopped following her when they got to the lobby and she hadn't pressured him to come up with her because she thought he didn't want to. She tensed when he touched her at first but almost instantly relaxed when his arm went around her shoulders. "Pregnant."
Adam kept his arm around her as they walked out of the clinic and towards the parking lot to his car. He was just still trying to process it all and wasn't sure if Quinn wanted him to come with her or not. That's why he just stayed in the lobby and waited. Having a doctor confirm what they already thought just made all of this so much more real now. "At least we know for sure now."
"I knew for sure before I said anything," she said quietly, because really it wasn't something she would chance saying before that. As they headed out of the clinic, she kind of swore that it was the last time she would be back there and would definitely be finding a real doctor. It wasn't like either of them had to question when it happened, but she figured she should say something anyway as she leaned against his side. "Four months." Also meaning she probably hadn't said anything even once she was pretty sure.
"I wasn't doubting that you did," he replied. He never doubted when it happened or that it was his. He knew she wasn't the type to do something like try to pass of someone else's kid as his. Besides he'd know if she had been with someone else. He trusted her and knew she'd never do something like that to him. "I figured as much."
"I know," she mumbled, finally stopping in front of the car in the parking lot. She pulled back from him a bit and looked up to him. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a prescription she had gotten for everything prenatal. "This is...real." She shook her head softly and then her eyes fell down between them. "Are we doing this?"
Adam gently lifted her chin so he could look at her. "I know it is, Quinn. Yes we really are doing this," he told her. He was young, they both were, and he was no where near ready to be a father but he wasn't just going to take the easy way out and give up on her or their baby. He was in this for good now.
Quinn looked up when he lifted her chin and let out a breath. Alright, so that was the end of it. "Okay," she agreed simply, because that was all there was to it. She took the paper and pushed it back into her pocket before leaning back against the side of his car. "Will you come up with me next time? Being alone up there sucked." And really, nothing had been worse than the way they were looking at her when she went in and out alone.
Adam nodded. "I will. Just tell me when it is and I'll come with you," he assured. Now that he knew Quinn wanted him there he would come with her to every appointment until the baby was born. Honestly, it never occurred to him how it might have looked to have her there all alone.
Quinn nodded and finally uncrossed her arms from around herself so she could pull away and open the door. "Are we doing anything else today or are you just dropping me off at home?" Truth be told, she wasn't sure she wanted to be alone.
Adam hadn't actually made plans for them today other than the doctor's appointment. That didn't mean he couldn't do something else with her though. "I wasn't planning on anything else but if you wanted to go do something we can."
Quinn bit into her lower lip and gave a sad, quiet laugh. "Honestly? I jut want to pretend like this possibly isn't happening and like my parents aren't about to completely kill me. Those are my plans for the day."
"Whatever happens Quinn I'll be here. We'll figure this out. I promise." He leaned in to give her a quick gentle kiss on the lips. "Really what do you want to do today?"
