whew, that's a relief. And dooo ittt it's awesome ffourscore August 9 2011, 23:19:20 UTC
[He doesn't blame her. If he were in her shoes he'd do the same. He rests his hands on his knees where she can see them, relaxing just ever so slightly. That said he won't be making any sudden movements.]

I know you can because I've met two of you who've crossed back and forth. I don't know all the details of it. It wasn't my Olivia who figured it out. It was your Olivia and your Walter. Or- [he frowns] -the other Olivia and Walter. I'm not sure how you, personally, fit into this.

On my side we've been chasing a Dr. Ryan Zarpov. We don't know how he's done it, but he's been taking advantage of the space-time soft spots and creating what we've started calling CP's. Crossover Points. They're these weird little in-between... pockets. We've seen a few of 'em so far. Last week an elevator over on the West Side sucked in two groups of travelers from two different universes. They're triggered by patterns. In the elevator case, the doors opened the exact same time and the same button was clicked in both worlds at the same time. And then-bam-normal elevator becomes a pocket between worlds. This guy, Zarpov, real sick sense of humor. He's got this CPs set to hold whoever falls into them hostage until some dumb goal is met, generally. Think Saw movies, but less gruesome, usually. Although a few have backfired in... some disturbing ways. He's grabbed people through universes and through time. We saw two dead versions of the same guy-one in his teens, one in his forties-in an earlier CP.

All that said. [Lincoln clears his throat and gestures at the two of them] I think we managed to trigger a CP.

[ooc: This is all BS, btw. Made up for the sake of this thread haha]

i just finished the seventh ep. i love olivia interacting with kids. ;; cortexiphaned August 9 2011, 23:27:06 UTC
[ All of that, unfortunately, is pretty believable to Olivia. Except one very important part: ]

Well, I don't know about you, Lincoln, but I wasn't sitting in a closet ten minutes ago. [ She was, in fact, sitting in her car, dealing with losing Charlie. Or realizing she had lost Charlie, since he'd actually been gone for a while. ] So while I could actually believe everything you just said, what I don't get is how I ended up here.

[ She glances towards the door. ] And why that won't open. Unless we were both in the same exact spot in our respective universes [ and timelines, for that matter ] and he somehow knocked us out and dumped us here, I don't think that's what's going on.

[ And she finally lets go of her gun in favor of rubbing her forehead. ]

[Lincoln shrugs, running a hand wearily through his hair.]

I have no idea. This guy's getting sharper with his experiments and doing new things every time we find one. He keeps leaving us in the dust.

But given the sheer amount of weird shit that happens on a daily basis with this job, this could be something completely different.

[Lincoln stands. He's about to move toward the door when he realizes that despite the fact that she hasn't shot him yet, they're not friends, and she could decide any minute now that he's a big fat liar and punch a hole through him.] ...Uh, do you mind if I try the door?

Yeah. Of course it could. [ It's more mumbled than anything, like she's talking to herself. That's the worst part about working with the Fringe division; she never knows what might pop up. Or, more importantly, how to deal with what pops up. She never feels like she's completely prepared for anything because she never knows what could happen.

She gives him a slight nod and takes a step back, giving him space to try to get the door open. If nothing else, he might actually be able to get them out of here as she contemplates how they got there in the first place. ]

and now for the crack... ffourscore August 10 2011, 03:46:32 UTC
[He scoots around her with a nod of thanks. Once at the door he tries for the nob: with the same results she'd had previously. Obviously that route's a no-go. So instead he starts feeling around the door's edges. He can't even feel a breeze on his fingers. Something odd certainly is going on here.]

[He kneels down to the bottom crack where something catches his eye. A neatly folded piece of paper. He picks it up gingerly.]

Hey, Li- sorry, Olivia. I think I found something.

[He holds it out to her.]

poor lincoln. this is going to make his life so awkward. cortexiphaned August 10 2011, 04:40:28 UTC
[ Olivia's still busy trying to figure out what's going on, so it takes a moment for her to lift her head and glances towards him. Then her gaze drops to the paper in his hand. ]

What is it? [ Without waiting for an answer, though, she takes the paper and unfolds it. And then lets out an awkward laugh. ] You have got to be kidding me.

always. ffourscore August 10 2011, 04:46:51 UTC
[He takes the paper from her and reads it too. He lets out a snort.]

We're in a middle-school closet. Great. Fantastic.

[His eyes flick toward her momentarily. It's Olivia. Who he's dying to kiss. Who he kissed a very, very long time ago when he first started at Fringe. Or at least that's who she looks like. It's not her, Lincoln, it's not her..]

Don't suppose we should try shooting our way out?

have you considered apping him anywhere? cortexiphaned August 10 2011, 04:51:51 UTC
[ She runs a hand through her hair and turns away from him, ready to start pacing until she remembers that there's no room to pace. So she lets out a breath, drops her hand and shakes her head at his suggestion. ]

I'm not so sure that's a good idea. [ She turns around again and runs a hand over her mouth. ] There has to be another way out of here. Some kind of... trap door or something.

Considered it. Haven't seen anything that caught my eye. got any suggestions? ffourscore August 10 2011, 05:00:35 UTC
[He scratches the back of his head, looking around.]

I'm not so sure. You can't even feel fresh air through the door's cracks. And the fact that the two of us are here despite all odds leads me to believe this isn't just some room with an easy exit, with a trap door. Hate to say it.

betenoire, but that miiiiiight be because i apped liv there. (and am waiting to hear back.) cortexiphaned August 10 2011, 05:08:02 UTC
[ She glances towards the door, then moves towards it to feel the cracks for herself. And, just as he said, there's absolutely no air passing through them. Her hands move to her hips as she turns around again, searching the walls of the closet like they might hold some kind of answer. ]

So that's it, then? We just... make out? [ She glances over towards him again. ] You're not even going to try figuring something else out?

never heard of it. msg me the link and I'll check it out? :) ffourscore August 10 2011, 06:32:39 UTC
[Lincoln rummages through the few coats hanging in the closet. Looking for something, anything. Nothing in the pockets, nothing of interest behind the coats. He kicks the shoe rack aside and, again, nadda.]

I don't have any better ideas. I know it's not an... ideal solution, but unless you're seeing something here I'm not, it's the best lead we have. As dumb as it sounds.

will do! you won't be able to app until next month if you want to, but you can at least check it out cortexiphaned August 10 2011, 17:32:22 UTC
[ Okay, at least he tried. She has to give him credit for that. Still, the whole situation is too weird for her, especially since he's from the Other Side and knows Altlivia. She lets out a breath, glances towards the door again and lets the silence drag on between them for a while. ]

...this had better work.

[He stuffs his hands in his pockets and fidgets, watching her, He's about to break the unbearable silence when she does instead.]

Only one way to find out.

[He clears his throat and turns to face her.]

Um. Okay.

[He leans in stiffly and kisses her. His internal mantra going not your Olivia, you don't know her, not your Olivia.... His hands haven't left his pockets by the time he withdraws. He glances around the closet.]

Anything?

[ She glances over when he clears his throat, then kisses him back just as stiffly. Her eyes don't even close as they kiss and she has to fight the urge to wipe her lips when he pulls away. (It wasn't terrible, aside from how awkward it was, but she's not the kind of person who kisses random people she doesn't even know.)

She tries the door again, but the knob doesn't have any more give than it had before, so she shakes her head slightly. ] It not even budging.

[Definitely, extremely awkward. The whole situation. Lincoln licks his lips as she turns to the doorknob. He's feeling increasingly frustrated with this bizarre situation when something catches his eye. Totally bewildered, he squints at the door and points at something written in pen on the wood for Olivia to see:]

Was this here before?

[It reads in fairly neat handwriting: what are you, a couple of nuns? got to do better than that]

[ Olivia glances down to where he points, brow furrowing in a frown. ] No, it wasn't.

[ Sighing, she turns to face Lincoln again. ] I guess that means we'll have to try harder. [ Which means things will just get even more awkward. ]
