[Until somewhere around lunch, she'd been having a pretty...normal and boring day. Nothing had exploded, mind, so that was a plus, but over all...nothing remarkable.
Some time after she managed to slice open her palm in a report about some unidentifiable dust they'd collected from the subway, though, she'd come to the realization that...what in the world was she doing? Filing boring, pointless paperwork when she could be with her partner right now? Of all people, she should know what comes of putting it off and pretending not to admit the things she felt (which...upon reflection, are a bit deeper than she thought.) until it's a 'good' time.
Right! Enough of that!
She'll just march right out of her office, down the hall, and...she needs some sort of an excuse. She can't just burst in and shout at him, it'd spook him.
Coffee! Coffee is good, she'll just go grab some coffee and bring it up to him. With a smile! And a knock at the door when she enters, even!]

[Right in the middle of transferring a witness statement from his notepad to the online report form--is that tentacle or tentative and why is his handwriting no better than it was in grammar school he could have made it so much neater so he could read it later oh my god--somebody knocks on the door.
He looks up, a little annoyed at the interruption--Oh it's Rose. And... She's ...smiling? O.o]

[Rose...Rose is not doing paperwork, because she hates doing paperwork and occasionally would like to build up a bonfire made solely out of paperwork and sacrifice office chairs to the coffee go advanced aliens for better returns and as a symbol of how no one should ever hand her paperwork again.
She is overseeing the clean up of a recently burnt out lab, though, just to make sure nothing goes wrong with the (surviving) research she actually cares about.]

[Is she fierce? Yes. Yes she is. She needs to be, really, to corral all the hectic scientists flailing around the burned out lab without anyone getting hurt or salvageable things getting destroyed. She'd never made anyone feel incredible by it before, though.
She's a bit focused scolding a lab assistant who nearly dropped something glass and dangerous, so she doesn't actually notice the Detective Inspector until he speaks. She doesn't actually look over at him until he's quiet for awhile.
...Dude what even is that expression? Did he break something?] ...What?
