[ooc: <33!]

[Jim had a hard time adapting to this new life what, with all the technology, the new ideas and freedoms he was allowed, but more over how he was now living in space. When she first mentioned it, Jim never thought it would have been possible. But when she'd shown him that they were, he nearly fainted. Needless to say, the first few months were quite shaky for him. The fact that Melody was there, the girl he met in the stables in what felt like a lifetime ago, was the only thing that kept him level.

Except when she was the one doing things like this; waking him up. Despite the fact that it was a new life, a new start, Jim was still an old fashioned gentleman. He'd hardly dreamt, but hearing her footfalls had started to rouse him but it wasn't until she was already in his bed, shaking him, that he woke completely and with a gasp before burrowing under the covers some. He wasn't naked but that didn't make it any less improper for him and his dated mind.]

H-happy Christmas, Melody. [Was the sheepish reply before he cleared his throat. Well then. Now that he was scrunched up in his bed, Jim popped his head over the covers.] What are you doing in my bed? [He smiled, chuckling as he asked.]

[Watching his reactions to all that they did and saw was one of the best things about traveling with Jim. She hopes she's done a decent job at explaining all she can. It's certainly a good thing she knows the ship well, as the TARDIS has been her second home. Of course, the cultural differences did not stop her from pushing certain boundaries...

She giggles when he hides and she sits up, her hair all a mess, fringe sticking out at odd places, clad in a large green jumper and snowflake patterned long johns.] Because! It's Christmas and this is how I wake people on Christmas!

[She flops onto her back, turning her head to look at him.] The Doctor is dead asleep and he is impossible to wake, ever. But he told me that there is a surprise when we get to where we are going.

[She's done a splendid job explaining things to him, and if there was something he didn't understand, it wasn't because she did a bad job in explaining it. She was actually very detailed in what she told him and he appreciated that. No, if he didn't understand something it was because his mind was constantly bewildered and didn't take everything in. He was a bit embarrassed when he had to ask twice about something, but he could stand that. Jim needed to know after all!

The one thing he could do without, sometimes, was the boundary pushing. He was flattered of course, he liked the attention, but more often than not it made him flustered and not entirely sure how to handle a situation.

Jim sighs from under the covers, shaking his head slightly with a small, teasing pout.] You certainly have an odd way of waking people. And still in your pajamas? Goodness gracious, Melody, you'll put improper thoughts into anyone's head if they saw us. [Or just him, probably.

He grunts out a laugh when she flops down, still unmoving from the covers, but smiles over to her when she looks to him.] If he needs that rest then we'll leave the man be. [Jim insisted. God knew he didn't want to push anyone's buttons here, he knew he was the odd fit out of all of them. But:] A surprise? Just where are we even headed to?

[The culture shock was still rather hilarious to Melody and she found him more and more adorable as the days passed. For his sake, though, she doesn't try to sneak under the covers with him, not like she'd do with anyone else, like Hermione or Alex or even The Doctor himself.]

I'm probably wearing the same amount of clothing now as I would if I was in my other clothes! [She laughs, wrinkling her nose, resting her cheek over her folded hands.] And the only person here is the Doctor and he's a bit of a child, anyway, so he'd probably just insist that we keep it down.

Speaking of, though, he hasn't told me a thing, though I imagine it's freezing because he's left a long overcoat for me in my room.

[She might be able to do that someday. And when that day came, when Jim was much more comfortable with her, his feelings and the culture shock, he was going to be a mess all over again.]

Yes, but these are you bed clothes, [Jim laughed back, finding her wrinkling her nose rather charming.] There's a difference between those two. I would never wake you in what I'm wearing now. Nor would I enter your quarters in them or while you were still in yours. [But his smile turned soft as he lightly shook his head.] But you know that.

[Though his face grew to confusion at the statement. How often did he not tell them where they were going? Then again, that was the point of a surprise.] Well, that would make sense. [He should try and find his coat; he was positive he brought it with him.] Do you know how long it will be until we arrive?

Sorry. [She says sincerely, hoping she hasn't upset him too much. And judging from the way he's just laughed, she figures she is still in the clear. After all, she had been trying her best to assimilate him into the strange ways of time and space travel.]

I promise I won't be here, or in these for long.

[At his confusion, she sits up, patting down her hair.] We've got a bit of time. I think he decided on our destination last minute, but it's bound to be fantastic. Would y'like some hot chocolate in the meantime?

No no, [Jim kept that smile, shaking his head a few more times.] there's no need to apologize, Melody. I wasn't scolding. [It was to be more informative than anything, but he could easily see where it sounded as if he were scolding. She wasn't upsetting him at all! He couldn't recall when he'd ever been upset at her.]

That's alright, I'll see you shortly as it is.[It wasn't as if they weren't going to see each other all day. But now it was getting a bit strange to be lying down so much. She was right, she covered up just as much as she would have been in her normal clothes. He was wearing a little less than he normally did but it was only his arms. So, with a small grunt, Jim sat up to reveal he was in an a-shirt, his pajama bottoms hardly visible.]

To be fair, everything here is fantastic to say the least. [This place was absolutely astounding, if they wanted to be somewhat more accurate.] And yes, hot chocolate sounds wonderful, thank you.

[Distance. Personal space, right. She's a little too affectionate sometimes with people she likes - and she does like a lot of people - but she will try her best to respect his wishes for now.

But Melody will reach up to flatten his hair with a tinkling of a laugh. Cute.] Well, the TARDIS likely happy to hear that you think she's so marvelous. It keeps her going, I think. That and frequent checkups.

[She finally rolls out of his bed and pulls her hair into a messy ponytail.] I'll meet you by the console with our drinks! [And she bounds off with a skip.]

[Distance and personal space was just for now. He found how affectionate she was around him utterly flattering. Jim was changing more than he realized, but because of that it was a slow, gradual process. And Jim adores her for being this patient with him, it's shown him even further how wonderful a friend she is.

He even ducks down to her hand, chuckling back at her laugh; he was a proper mess, wasn't he? He always was in the morning, his hair absolutely hated him!] She is quite astounding, I'll never be able to say it enough. You and she are lifesavers after all. And that makes you just as wonderful as she. [Jim would never cease bringing it up. He could never convey in any amount of words how grateful he was to her for all she had done.]

Alright, I'll be out shortly. [Jim agrees with a small nod, waiting until she left to get out of bed himself. It only took him about four minutes to get dressed, and once he was done smoothing out his hair he made his way to the console.] So Melody, tell me, what are the Christmas traditions on the TARDIS?

[The mess was good. Melody adored catching him in a messy state, especially when he was so stately and proper most of the time. The thought brings a grin to her face as she hurries off to change her clothes and ready herself. Then, to tend to the hot chocolate.

She reappears in a comfortable jumper, a short red skirt and dark gray stockings for the occasion, reindeer antlers atop her head.] There's a cuppa for you, sir. [As she hands a hefty mug to him.]

Well, there's caroling and we usually make a stop somewhere where someone else is celebrating Christmas and -- well, saving the world tends to fall under traditions, yeah.

[Messy was terrible and it wasn't to be tolerated. That was why he'd let her smooth out his hair for him; he was about to fix it himself when she volunteered.

Melody's choice of clothing makes him chuckle, smiling especially at the antlers on her head. Jim was getting more used to the skirts, as short as they were, though he still had to excuse himself now and then to get some fresh air. Though he had gotten better at not sneaking glances.]

Why thank you, miss Melody. [Taking the cup happily, blowing at it while she fills him in on the TARDIS traditions. He takes a sip on the part about saving the world and he hums in surprise before swallowing.] Caroling and saving the world? My, that must be a short song. [Jim was only half teasing.]

But I am terribly sorry, Melody. I haven't a present for you to open. I wasn't entirely sure where to shop, you see. [He tried a cheesy smile in apology as well.]

[Her inclination towards short skirts could be blamed on her mother, who had always encouraged flaunting those gams. But she often wore leggings or stockings underneath and found it to be appropriate for traveling -- without realizing their effect on Jim, of course. To that, she remained oblivious.

-- But again with the 'miss Melody.' Cue the dopey grin into her mug before she licks away the foamy mustache..] A very short caroling session. We hardly get through it before something happens.

And you needn't get me anything! [she insists, shaking her head.] Honestly, I just like having you 'round.

[It was Jim's understanding that the women in her time, or rather, well after his, were inclined to wear what they liked. That was something he was trying to grasp as accept as he was the visitor in her world now. Though, one day, he would have to confront her on these short skirts and things. Jim could only hold himself back for so long! Even if that was quite a bit of time.]

That's terrible, [Jim gently laughed.] It isn't Christmas without proper caroling. What of everything else? Is that put on hold as well? Christmas dinner and present exchange too?

[There's another sip taken as she insists he didn't need to get her anything and Jim's lips left the mug with a lick before shaking his head back.] No no, but I do! I absolutely enjoy having you around as well, but that's what friends do; exchange presents. The first year I knew Jamie, he insisted the same thing and when Christmas rolled around, the present I got him was the only thing he received. I always make it a point to give my friends a Christmas gift and you are no exception. When we arrive at our destination, I'll go off and buy you something before we go caroling. ...And I'll get something for the Doctor as well.

[After all, Jamie owed him quiet a bit as well.]

[Melody just laughed again, wrinkling her nose.] Well, we do what we can under such -- unique circumstances, you know. There was one Christmas that the Doctor spent enjoying several Christmases in a row -- with younger versions of this one man. I wasn't around for that, but it sounded like a grand old time, honestly. You can't have too much Christmas.

[The redhead smiled sheepishly, reaching to give his arm a friendly squeeze.] You're really too kind, Jim. We can use the stop for getting presents for each other. Wherever we go. Hopefully there'll be stores open for some of that.

[She blew into her mug again, licking a spot of drink lingering on the rim.] Do you have any requests?
