[Friends was definitely not a word Santana expected she'd ever be able to use to describe Rachel Berry. For three years, they had been at each other's throats, even moreso when Santana had joined Glee Club during sophomore year and really encroached on Berry's territory. In the beginning, Santana hadn't cared that Rachel took all the solos - even she saw that Rachel was their best shot at winning. But as she grew more into her singing voice and became more and more involved and honestly interested in being a part of Glee, instead of posing as Sue Sylvester's spy, she wanted those solos. And she put up a fight for them, and slowly but surely, Rachel had learned to share. Santana had grown to respect and even like her at times, leaving the insulting nicknames behind for the most part - she still used them sometimes, though in a lot more friendly of a manner.

Her relationship with Brittany had reached its end. No matter how hard Santana had fought for Brittany, how passionately she declared that she loved her and she wanted to be with her, going so far as to come out of the closet officially: to her parents, her brother, her abuelita... Santana had truly opened up and given Brittany everything: her heart and her soul. But it felt like Brittany had lost interest. They barely spent anytime together anymore, and though officially they were still together, it really didn't feel like it.

She'd been turning to other people to distract herself from the feeling of her heart cracking, so when Rachel had proposed a duet, she'd jumped at the opportunity. They both had powerful voices, and she had been curious how they would sound together. She knew she sounded fabulous with Mercedes, but what about Rachel? It seemed her curiosity had gotten the better of her. In the two weeks they'd been considering their choices, she'd come to want to actually hang out with Rachel, even outside of rehearsing their number together. When they were alone together, Santana felt like she could relax and be herself, and that wasn't something she was used to doing - aside from in Glee club, and even then, there was still a bit of the mask left on.

She sat with her legs folded underneath her in Rachel's room. The colors in this room were so bright compared to her own that her eyes still hurt for a few minutes every time she came in. She was scanning through her sheet music, preparing to rehearse again, when Rachel spoke up.

Raising an eyebrow, she looked at the other girl.] Depends. How personal are we talking?

Moderately. [Rachel is watching her closely, trying to read her body language. Santana looks relaxed, but then again she's always been unpredictable. Rachel's not really sure how to approach what she wants to ask, and so she takes a second to steel herself up for the question and the probable backlash.]

What's it like? [She swallows down her nervousness.] Kissing a girl?

[Santana can't help tensing just a little. Of all people, Rachel had to ask her this question. But then again, who else is there to ask? She hesitates before trying to form a good answer.] It's not...so different from kissing a guy. Softer, sweeter, maybe, because girls wear lip gloss. [She shrugs, meeting Rachel's eyes for a moment.] ...Why?

[Rachel can feel her face warm the tiniest bit at Santana's question, but she refuses to duck her head or look away. She knows that she's putting their precarious friendship in danger, but the need to push is too strong to ignore. She speaks simply and directly. Santana didn't laugh at her or try to embarrass her, the least she can do is be honest.] I've been thinking about it.

[Santana's eyebrows practically disappear into her hair line and she smirks, amused.] Oooh, Berry's got a girl crush? Who is it?

[A girl crush. She's not sure why she's never thought about it in those terms before, but Santana's right. She's always known Santana was a knock out. Had long compared her own plainness to the likes of her and Quinn and every other girl at McKinley. Lately, though, she's been thinking about what it is exactly that makes Santana a knock out. Like her long, perfect legs, the way her long eyelashes brush her cheek when she looks down and her mouth...]

You. [But this is when her courage fails her, sitting beside her girl crush and knowing that she has a girlfriend. After all, she can't just expect Santana to kiss her to satisfy Rachel's curiosity. Can she? She quickly follows up with.] You don't know her.

[She gets off her bed and moves to the dresser, pretending to look for something while she stalls for time.] How did you and Brittany start? [She looks over her shoulder at Santana.] Kissing.

[Santana's not oblivious to the feel of Rachel's eyes on her for a moment there. She doesn't think much of it though: she's hot and she works hard to be hot. She's used to being looked at.

When the word 'you' leaves Rachel's mouth, Santana tenses and is definitely at a loss for word. But Rachel quickly tacks on more, and though Santana's not sure she should buy it, she does and feels a little bit of relief trickle through her.]

It just happened. [Santana shrugs, thinking about it with a small smile.] After Cheerios practice, one day. Quinn had pissed me off, and Britt... she kissed me to make it better.

[Rachel watches Santana's face as she goes over the memory, feeling a small bit of jealousy in the pit of her stomach. Which is ridiculous. Britt and Santana have managed to come so far and be so open in their feelings. Lately her emotions have been a big jumble inside of her. She feels guilty for being relieved that her and Finn won't be getting married but also wants to try new and exciting things. She doesn't want anyone or anything to hold her back when she gets to New York. And not the least of all, she is genuinely attracted to Santana. When she speaks, her voice is soft and small.] That's sweet.

[She puts down the hairbrush she's picked up absentmindedly and moves back to the bed, brushing her hair behind her ears.] Do you ever think about kissing other girls?
