MOD ANNOUNCEMENTS;
Hi guys!! It's been a while since we've posted, and firstly we wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! For those who don't, we hope you had a great November 24th and week!
Firstly, we'd like to express our own thanks in how much you guys love this community, and how much it's flourished! We remember a time when we had to post a meme a week to get activity up, and that is no longer the case! You guys are popping out your own memes daily, and kudos to you for doing so.
Secondly, we'd like to make mentions of a few things that have come to our attention as of late!
• For those who have asked us to revamp memes that have been posted, we would like to remind you that we do not actually post the memes on the community! Everything here is posted by community members, not us! So, in that light, we do not change anything posted by you guys! We may add tags if you forget, because it's easy to forget to tag your memes, but we'll never change your content. We do request, as it's stated in the rules and the how it works page, that memes that have possibly triggering content or might be somewhat questionable be thrown under a cut! The community is everything goes, a place where we feel anything and everyone should be welcome, and we won't be restricting what kind of content gets posted.
If you're unsure if your meme should be under a cut, just throw it under one anyway! Chances are you'll save someone a bit of scrolling, especially if your meme is long. As always, though, titles, pictures, and small meme summaries (so long as they are neutral) do not have to go under a cut, so no one passes your meme by!
• It's come to our attention, and we have noticed (especially recently) that there have been an excess of memes lately, especially ones extremely similar in nature in a short amount of time. We'd like to remind everyone that memes should not be posted extremely frequently, especially if they are very similar in nature! If you see a Fluff Meme that's been posted just the day before, please don't post another one! If there's a meme you're in the mood for that hasn't been posted somewhat recently, please, feel free to post what you're itching for! But please also remember that 3-day old memes aren't old at all! We said that we aren't watching you like Big Brother in the rules, and we aren't! But we do check in daily, and notice the speed of the community, as well as how frequently certain memes pop up. This is all explained in The Rules and the How This Works page! If you haven't checked out those pages, please do! It helps everything run smoother. You can find them right on this mod journal.
• It's also been mentioned that we should create stricter rules, start screening memes, etc! As it stands, we will not be changing anything about the community. We will not ban anything based on content (such as certain memes or types of memes), we will not go through all of your memes and deem which ones should get posted or not (or delete memes that have been posted), and we will not limit what you guys can do in the community. We're very sorry if you disagree with this, but we feel that this community should be open to everyone, in a way that everyone can find their own sort of enjoyment out of it. There are tags in place so you can track the type of meme you most enjoy, the rating so you know what the content is likely to be, and a trigger warning tag so you're aware that the content may be questionable. We created the community to be exactly the way it is, and we won't be changing that. :)
