Away at War/Battle MemeWe all know war can be a hard time for everyone but those left behind? It can be torture. Hoping you get a letter or a call, staying glued to the television and cringing at those news stories. Guess what happens to you now? Leo hasn't been himself.

People can usually skim past this. In public, he's still happy and cheerful, keeping up appearences, but, to people who know him, or see him in private, the Whitelighter seems a tad... distant.

As is right now, he's staring at a wall, rather blankly.

[Admittedly, Sherlock usually doesn't notice when someone is gone for an extended amount of time, but when Leo had suddenly shown back up, that's when it had finally donned on him that something had been amiss.]

...I assure you, it's not going to do anything.

[And so there they were, the Whitelighter had beamed himself in and had just been sitting there oddly quiet. Strange for him really, he was normally the one who started conversation.]

"Hm? What d'you mean?" Leo asks, breaking his staring contest with the wall.

[The littlest things got under his skin now that he was back. This time, it was the experiment on the kitchen counter, the counter where he'd planned to make breakfast. His eyes narrowed and he yelled a single name over his shoulder.]

Sherlock!

works for me! :D deducing_freak November 21 2011, 02:55:22 UTC
[As if Sherlock hadn't already noticed the doctor's fuse was significantly shorter. Normally the man was so patient with him and the detective may have taken that for granted.]

Don't touch it!

[He called from the sitting room, of course he knew just what the other was complaining about and he didn't want his severed foot disturbed.]

If you don't get to it in the next ten seconds, I'm chucking it out the window. Ten. Nine. Eight...

[He was absolutely bloody serious and if Sherlock didn't think he was, his precious experiment was getting thrown out the window.]

And I said not to touch it!

[whoa whoa Whoa! Is he... is he really doing the counting thing? Sherlock hasn't heard that dreaded countdown technique since he was... seven years old? Never the less it has the detective quickly reporting to the kitchen with a non-to-pleased expression on his face.]

It's an experiment, John, and an important one at that. I need it for a case, now leave it be. [now probably wasn't a good time for his stubborn side to show itself]

And I was about to make breakfast, but I can't since your experiment is in the way. You have a bedroom, Sherlock. There's plenty of room in there that you don't use when you're not sleeping. So get it out of here!

[Do you really want to go toe to toe with John, Sherlock?]

Well breakfast can wait, I need this space for at least another three hours. If I move the specimen now, I'll get incomplete results and the entire thing would have been a waste. Believe it or not, a foot in this condition is not all that easy to come by.

[His room is a total mess of paper work, since he rarely ever sleeps in there anyway, it's more like a pile of case reports and dirt laundry. So yes, Sherlock may just have to take his chances with the hungry soldier.]

[John's eyes narrow and, instead of dealing with the errant foot, he starts advancing on Sherlock.] Get it out. of. the. kitchen. [His voice lowers more to a growl with each word and he's almost pressed against Sherlock by the end of it.]

[Naturally, Sherlock is far too proud of himself to be easily intimidated, least of all by John. So when the man takes that tone with him and actually advances towards him without fault, well... he may actually have to reconsider his choice of action.]

..and what if I don't?

[The detective remains firm, arching a brow at him curiously.]

Then it will go out anyway and I will be going through you. [And maybe that's how his temper wants it. He wants to fight Sherlock, futile though that might be. He wants an argument.]

deducing_freak November 21 2011, 03:46:33 UTC
[Alright to maybe John's shortened temper was a tad unnerving to say the least. While Sherlock may have been taller in height and fairly skilled in hand to hand confrontations, that really didn't compare much to a man who had a bit more weight him and military training to back it all up.]

Look, I don't know what the hell it is that's gotten into you lately, but need I remind you that this is not the front lines. This is home, John, our home, and it would be nice if you took that bit into consideration.

[Despite that little speech there, Sherlock is going to step around John now and see just what he can do about relocating his experiment.]

[And Sherlock's little comment makes John snap.] I know that. It is also not your very own personal laboratory.

[He clenches his fists. He doesn't want to hit Sherlock, but he needs some kind of funnel for his temper. He needs an outlet, he's just not sure what that's supposed to be.]

[The walls are certainly a good outlet for frustration, Sherlock has demonstrated that a number of times. But he's done now, he's quit arguing. Obviously John had struck upon a mean streak and there seems to be no way of talking him down reasonably. So he'll do the next best thing and simply give in to the man's demands, placing the severed foot on a dissecting tray in order to carry it out of the kitchen.]

You make it sound as if I have the place littered with my work.

[It was a subtle comment, spoken just above a whisper, something quiet enough to force John to listen to his words and quite possibly instigate him more then he had intended.]
