[Lindsey couldn't believe Angel rescued him from that holding dimension, except it happened and now he was here. No, he could believe the broody hypocrite rescued him because he knew things the vampire needed to know. Or sorry excuse like that.

Meeting with the Angel Avengers over and now left with only the two of them in Angel's office, he stared up at the vampire from where he was still sprawled over the sofa.]

The decision was the hardest one that Buffy had ever had to make beyond the time that she'd had to put a sword in Angel to save the world. The idea of a paradise with them was so tempting. They deserved to have happiness after everything they'd gone through but Buffy couldn't do it. Not at the sacrifice of her friends. They had to destroy Twilight. It would mean the end of this idyllic time with Angel and probably one of their lives.

"Angel, you know I love you, right? That I always will but this can't go on."

Angel looked up at her and her nodded. As much as he wanted that happiness even he knew it wasn't right. Not for them. "I love you too, and I know."

Buffy smiled softly and leaned her forehead against his. She really hadn't been expecting a fight over it but it was still a relief to know he agreed. "That's one of the reasons why I love you so much."

His hand drifted up to ghost along her face, he really didn't want to lose this; to lose her. Not again but he knew it might happen so he gave her a soft kiss.

Buffy's eyelids drifted shut, she knew this was likely another ending in their lives. They weren't lucky enough that they could stay together but God she wished that they could.

Her lips lingered over his, making another memory to keep with her.

Angel wouldn't lose what they had, not without a fight. He'd fight to keep her if he had to. He allowed the kiss to deepen as if letting her know he would.

Buffy tightened her hold on Angel, a pleased hum in the back of her throat as the kiss continued. She'd fight just as hard to keep what they had and screw the Powers That Be that kept messing up their fate.
