The rules~
1. Comment with your muse, labeled Name-Fandom-any preferences (optional). Others reply.
2. You two are watching a movie. Either can decide whether it's at a house, or at the movie theater. Use RNG (optional) and the list below to decide which movie you are watching. Or choose your own if what you want isn't in the list. Some choices will include a few examples of movies, but a general made-up movie can be used.
3. React accordingly. Shenanigans ensue! (Warning! May contain spoilers)
4. Don't just watch a movie! Let something happen! Feel free to make a horse suddenly jump out of the screen, or a sudden blackout. Go nuts! This rule is optional.
Genres
Kiddie/teen movies - Stuff for the kids. Labeled "Family Friendly". Of course, a lot of these movies are loved by people of all ages, not just kids.
1. Silly animated cartoons - Become one with your inner child. (classic Disney movies, Pixar)
2. Disney Channel original movies - Some are good, some are disappointing. Your mileage may vary. (Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus)
3. Celebrity-based movies - Hannah Montana Movie, Bieber's Never say Never...why are you watching these?
4. Based on TV shows - That cartoon you like has it's own movie now! Gotta check it out! Will it be bad or good? (Spongebob movie, Yugioh movie, Scooby Doo)
5. Creepy movies - I thought this was a kids/family movie! Why is it giving me nightmares? (The Haunted Mansion, Brave Little toaster, Willy Wonka, Fern Gully, this list goes ON.)
Comedy - The funny stuff that can make different results from giggles to guffaws.
1. Clever child shenanigans - The main character is a girl or boy that causes hilarious mischief, but becomes a hero in the process.. (Home Alone, Dennis the Menace, Trouble Child)
2. Zero to Hero (Comedy version) - The plain guy becomes a hero through embarrassing, wacky, and sometimes courageously epic antics. (The Mask, Gulliver's Travels (remake), Kung Fu Panda)
3. Adult Comedy - Not for kids! This stuff contains sex jokes, drugs abuse, alcohol abuse, and a lot of cussing. (American Pie, 40-year-old Virgin, Superbad)
4. Slapstick - Someone keeps getting into painful or embarrassing situations. You wince at some parts, but you can't help but laugh. (Master of Disguise, Pink Panther, Home Alone series)
5. Not-so-Comedy - Supposed to be funny, but you can't help but facepalm at how terrible it is. (general opinions)
Romance - Recommended to watch with your lover.
1. Romantic comedy - The couple goes through hilarious predicaments and fall in love at the end. (50 First Dates, What Happens in Vegas, Enchanted)
2. Fantasy - She or he is in love with a vampire/werewolf/elf and vice versa. Or they're both human and are in a world full of unicorns. Either way, fantasy is in it somehow. (Twilight, Ella Enchanted)
3. Cheesy romance - The young woman with flowing hair is in the arms of a shiny, well toned, long haired hunk. Sparkles ensue. Also magic and doves. Can be a guilty pleasure. Warning: Might tempt you to lean in and kiss that special someone sitting beside you.
4. That One Sex Scene - You know what I'm talking about. That one scene that can make it awkward to watch with your friend, or gets you in the mood and you end up not finishing the movie. Hint Hint. Optional: The entire movie is a sex scene. You are watching porn.
5. Chick Flick - Only ladies....and the manliest of men can enjoy these.
Drama/Tearjerkers/Tragedies - Bring a tissue box!
1. The Sacrifice - Either the main character sacrifices themselves in order to help something bigger, or a beloved side character sacrifices themselves for the main character.
2. Forbidden Love - They love each other, but they must go through tough struggles and/or judgement in order to be together. (Brokeback Mountain, Tuck Everlasting, movies versions of Romeo and Juliet)
3. Zero To Hero (Drama version) - The plain guy becomes a hero through struggles and sacrifice. Unlike option 1, this doesn't guarantee death. (Pay it Forward, Life is Beautiful, Pursuit of Happyness)
4. The Dog Dies - The heroic animal, whether the main character of the movie or the main charcter's trusted sidekick, their death causes all kind of sob storms. (Old Yeller, Marley and Me)
5. War - Men leave homes and families to join the war. Some die, some come back home to find out family is dead...either way a lot of crying in these.
Action/Thrillers - Get your adrenaline flowing!
1. Racing - Superfast speed and a lot of horsepower. (Death Race, Fast and Furious)
2. Explosions - Things blow up. A lot.
3. Action Comedy - Not only is it action packed, but it's also a knee slapper. ( Rush Hour, Get Smart)
4. Periodical - Old West? Maybe Feudal Japan? Time to get cultural. (Last Samurai, Dances with Wolves)
5. Guns - A lot of things are shoot. That's pretty much it.
Horror - Can you handle it?
1. Spoiler: Everyone dies. - Pretty much all of the main characters are killed or will be killed, and nothing gets accomplished. (Human Centipede, Cabin Fever)
2. Torture Porn - Yikes! You'll need a strong gut to watch this. Pretty much people get tied up and others torture them. Mostly with sharp objects. (Saw series, Hostel,)
3. Supernatural - Ghosts. Everywhere. Haunted houses, posessed people, curses, you name it. (Insidious, Paranormal Activities)
4. Serial Killers/Slasher classics - That one guy that kills a lot of people. Usually mutated or mentally disturbed in some way. (Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Silence of the Lambs)
5. Body Horror - Involves the manipulation of the human body with disastrous/horrific results. You will grab on to your -insert body part here- the whole duration of the movie. (Teeth, Splice, The Fly)
6. Japanese Horror - Not known for its scare factor and special effects, but they make up for it with an interesting story. Plus, many of these movies inspired American remakes. (Uzumaki, Ju-on)
7. Realistic - It's scary because IT COULD HAPPEN! (Final Destination, The Dentist)
