Happiness can come in many ways. It does not have to come from completely burning down the "old you" and supplanting your personal values with self obsession. Rather, you can embrace your complexity and intelligence, and focus it towards helping others and better understanding the world around you. I can say very little with certainty, but I am positive that eschewing all ambitions that transcend physical fitness and partying is not the key to long term happiness. There is a reason why societies ranging from the ancient Greeks to tenth century Buddhists to modern Christians have all deplored vanity and superficiality.
The "old you" was a lot like me. I am happy person. I feel like I am positively affecting the world in many ways through my work. Most of my friends are also happy people who are positively affecting the world, and very similar to the "old you." On the other hand, none of the significant, intelligent, or deeply happy people that I know are like the "new you." This is why it is so hard for me to be happy about your transformation. Nothing in my life indicates that my way is "wrong" and your way is "right," even though you seem to imply this is the case in your brutal attacks on the "old you."
