Hi!

Europe was wonderful and fabulous and fun and amazing and I had a great time and came back to Durham with a great new attitude. Thank you, Europe! There are a bunch of pics on facebook. I've told the story many times but here's what I did:

Venice - by myself during the day, hostel people in the evenings, and my friend Martin who was working there to hang out with at night
first night in Venice - I got drunk. Sign of a good trip!
In fact, in the past month I have had alcohol nearly every day, my liver needs a break!!!

Rome - with my Dad and his two Romano friends Bruno and Pino. It was great! They were so nice to us, we saw so much history and art and ate delicious food. (1 week)

Santiago de Compostela, Spain - my good friend Alejandra (from Duke)'s home town with a fabulous cathedral and old medieval city. We laughed a lot, took a lot of pictures, saw many things, and had a great time. The highlights included partying with a bunch of 40-year-old Spanish people -- we played Psychiatrist and sang songs! and having my body covered in chocolate at a spa.

Lisbon, Portugal - road trip with Alejandra! Also very fun, we cried (you're supposed to, Portugal is a sad country), saw sights, bought rooster souveniers. It was all great. I got to drive!

Now I am back in Durham to do research and be with my friends and have a fabulous time. Life is good.

I had a fabulous weekend! In fact, I think I am still recovering from it and keep looking for more people to tell about my weekend, so thanks! Friday night I went to Raleigh to a comedy club with some friends. We saw Officer Garcia from Reno 911 do standup! It was awesome! Sometimes I go kind of gaga over celebrities (even if they are minor ones) and after the show we got to chat with him in a bar for 5 minutes, exciting! The night was fun after that, we got burgers, met up with another friend, drank a bunch of beer, smoked cigars, eventually hung out at a friend's house when the bars closed, and i didn't go to sleep until 5 am. the birds were chirping - i slept with earplugs. I don't remember the last time I stayed out that light. Wild 'n crazy Physics Ph.D. students!

Saturday morning I got some sleep before carpooling with a friend to go back to Raleigh for a Sociology women slumber party. Yes, the mean age of slumber party participant was probably 27. It was a lot of fun. We drank sangria, gave ourselves facials, ate good food, watched a chick flick, and went out for brunch in the morning.
