Public: Style poll

Apr 08, 2005 22:27

It is quite windy outside, and I wrote a poll. This poll is all about style. Styles change so quickly. Something that is in today is out tomorrow. Something that was the hottest thing 50 years ago, and became the unhottest thing for 49 years, now is the hottest thing again. Weird, isn't it ( Read more... )

After seeing the word "style" so many times in a row, it looks REALLY WEIRD.

I was just going to comment and say the same thing!

I think I am pretty up-to-date on clothing. I've been to tonnnnnsssss of stores lately, and I've been shopping in all the junior departments. But I could be forgetting some things....

I think I'm up-to-date on clothing too. Every Sunday I look at the ads in the morning paper to see what atrocities are making their reappearance. ;-)

Do you really find clothing in the junior deparment? I was thinking the other day how glad I am that I'm finally too old to even be tempted to shop in the junior section. But, if you like junior clothing, I've probably just insulted you. ;-)

I can't find any shirts that fit me in the misses' department anymore. The smalls are almost always too big, and they aren't cut in a way that flatters me. I like them to be quite fitting--almost snug, but not (in my opinion) immodestly so. I have a harder time finding pants in many junior departments that aren't too low in the rise, but stores like Gap and Old Navy have low rises as well as ultra low rise, so I go for the former.

I'm a lot more trendy than I used to be. I've really changed my style a lot in the last year.

How could you not list the Southwest?? Helloooo!

This poll was fun, BTW. :)

Whoa, I can't believe I forgot the Southwest! :-O

And I was thinking that Texas really should have had an option all to itself. It's not really the south, and it's not really the southwest. It's just... Texas. It's huge!

Yeah, I was just thinking that too. I was surprised when you listed "South" as your option, and then I realized I really didn't list one for your area. Ah well. Heap the shame on me.

the ugly short straight-across bangs of yore, which look good on not so many people (including me!), are replaced lately by bangs swept to the side.

rap music isn't in style - hip hop is. :D

and i've noticed that one-piece bathing suits are big this year, but a lot of them have like . . . no back . . . or other such things. not your traditional one-piece.

does anyone actually say "uber" in normal conversation? hehehehe :)

Yes, I meant to say that about bangs. That's why I voted that they're in style. (They definitely are! You see those long, sideswept bangs everywhere!)

Oh, you are quite right about bangs swept to the side. I had forgotten about those.

And again, I agree with you... rap is out, hip hop is definitely in.

I will have to take another look at bathing suits. All I've been seeing are the tankini types.

My brother Randy said "uber" yesterday, and I said, "That is a word we do NOT say in this household!" ;-) I despise it. It hasn't come in with much force in this area, and it seems to have come in later...yet it is already on its way out (thank goodness).

this was fun! but also hard. some things are so out, they're back in (like side ponytails).

and the fact that stores/catalogs have begun to sell classic cut jeans again - the ones with tapered leg - horrifies me to no end.

Are side ponytails really coming back in? I'm surprised at that! I've yet to see someone with one, but now you're creating fear in me...

Isn't it funny how we're so horrified by clothing we wore and were proud of not too long ago?

Um..any reason why you didn't mentioned flare-leg jeans? Capris? Tankinis? :-D Regency dresses (those are REALLY in style, you know! ;-) :-D)?

Fun poll! And perfect timing since I was just in the land of clothing stores yesterday. :-)

Yes, my reason: the poll was getting too long! I thought of so many other things that should be in it, but I didn't want the poll to take an hour to complete LOL. Oddly enough, I didn't think of Regency dresses... ;-)

I understand. You'll have to do Fashion Poll II.

Just wait, Regency dresses will be all the rage.

Do you think people can handle more reptition of the word "style"???

Empire waists and Regency-ish dresses HAVE been in before...like in our mothers' day.
