Believe it or not, the original draft of the ending was even more sugary. I decided that didn't go so well with the tone of the rest of the story. ;)

Thanks for reading!

wow!
that was confusing as hell for a while... but so fascinating! Amzazing the POV shift, it took me almost half the story to get it, then I got back and re-read it.. really great piece, our fav couple is very much in character and the story is well built.

thanks for sharing!

Thank you!

As I said to my betas, there was a fine balance between intentionally confusing and plain illegible. I wanted the reader to be able to get to the middle of the story, realize what's going on, and look back to see the earlier confusing parts as clues to what was really going on. If I was halfway successful with that I'm a happy camper. :)

btw, why is all the delusion vocab in French?

Heh, I have no idea why they're in French, but as far as I know, those are the original names of the disorder and its variants. I believe they're officially classified with English names, but the French terms are still used commonly used even in medical circles. The French terms are, as you might imagine, the reason for the title being in French.

(I actually remarked to someone last night while doing my final read-through before posting that there was an awful lot of French in this fic. And an awful lot of semicolons.)

Glad you enjoyed reading. :)

The next commenter pointed out that I may not have said this clearly - I certainly didn't mean to imply that all psychological disorders are referred to by French names in English-speaking parts of the world, just this particular one. My guess would be that the person who first started studying the disorder was French.
