I recently finished sewing together my second pair of shoes!

Last year Simple Shoes had some moccasins kits that included the pieces for you to sew together your own shoes on sale for a ridiculous price ($5-$10). I bought one pair and found the kit easy to put together and the shoes were probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn, so I then ordered 6 more pairs. Every time I put together a pair, I'm amazed at how easy it is to do and amazed by the result (granted, they already cut the pieces out and attach a rubber sole to the shoe, but it ships to you as a flat pile of stuff). At first I felt silly with them on, but I was surprised at the number of coworkers that wanted a pair as well and their comfort eventually outweighed any weird feelings and comments. If I wear them out at the current rate, I'll be shoed with simple moccasins for 7 years! If I found a way to replace the sole (the only thing that's worn on my previous pair), who knows how long!

Then today I was randomly looking stuff up online and came across this website that gives you general information on how a variety of moccasin styles are put together. Weee! It does make me want to actually try to put together an entire pair myself and gives me some hope for the future of having the most comfortable shoes in the world. They are the closest thing to being barefoot with shoes on that I've felt. And that's the kind of female that I am.
