This whole debate has nothing to do with gun safety or preventing deaths. It's about power, control, another step against those "on the wrong side of history" and "forward" to leftist rule. This keeps everyone distracted from the debt, disastrous economy and lack of jobs and keeps the money rolling into Democrat coffers from their sheep.
