A victory for the Liar Party - The American Slavery Act passes

The biggest bait and switch, outright lie in American history.

Sep 20, 2009 - Obama: Mandate is Not a Tax
"OBAMA: No, but - but, George, you - you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase."
Bonus MiniTru logic: "OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam’s Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, ( Read more... )

It also would never have passed except for being voted on during a lame duck session.

True.

It was deception and thuggery from beginning to end.

We should rightfully spend the rest of today being depressed, and maybe commiserate with a few beers.

But tomorrow, we can get back on the horse. We have to remember, this was not an election. It is by no means any reflection of the people, save for 9 of them. The Supreme Court did not make up anyone's minds by making the decision.

70% were opposed to this law yesterday, and 70% will still be opposed tomorrow. That number will likely only go up now. Some people have read Obama's lips that it was not a tax.

ObamaCare has only had only one chance so far to go up against the people, back in November 2010. I doubt many people have had a change of heart since then.

Let the liberals gloat while they still can.

Also, keep up the good work on the blog. Looking forward to reading more.

Good points.

I would offer that SCOTUS seal of approval is going to hurt.

If the GOP handles this right (a virtual impossibility) it could go well.

Positive:
1. Roberts clearly says it would be unconsitutional under Commerce Clause powers.
2. Feds can't punish states for not expanding medicare.
3. Great fodder for GOP - Obama just levied 1.7 billion tax on americans.

Chief Justice Roberts in his decision:
"Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices."

Well said and a good perspective. One other positive:

If the pendulum swings back and the GOP gains power, government can do ANYTHING.

Holder was found in contempt today 255 to 67. Two Republicans, Steven C. LaTourette (OH) and Scott Rigell (VA), joined Democrats in voting no, while Lewis (CA) didn't vote. However, 108 Democrats didn't vote at all, 1 voted present, and 17 voted to find Holder in contempt. When 126 out of 191 Democrats refuse to back Obama's bury the paper trail tactics, I gain hope that the shit may yet hit the fan.

Unless the GOP finds some balls, this goes to courts, which takes us beyond the election. After that it's dead. Romney will want to "put an end to old issues & divisiveness" or some such eunuch Republican bullshit, or Obama will have won and the republic/rule-of-law is over.

GOP either needs to start screaming about 300 murdered Mexicans and Holder impeachment over perjury, or it was a waste of time.

Yeap... But I just love how dems through tantrums and walk out. If Newt was still a speaker he'd use this tantrum to sneak in some nice tax cuts :D

Wouldn't that be beautiful?

So damn long since the GOP had balls. Boehner's biggest fear is a GOP Pres & majority Congress.
