In regard to Obama's insult of spending cuts versus the astronomical money he's spending, a Liberal replied with this typical response: "If only there were some way to raise revenue." Because, you see, we can never run out of tax money. Heck, if the collective think it needs it, we should just hand our paychecks over and let them give back what they feel we need.
A non-zealot replied with the following chart.

Facing that chart the Leftist replied with the following. Read this and tell me it doesn't sound exactly like the most faithful of evangelicals. I can hear it in the soft, calm voice of the truly devout, or outright mad. Emphasis mine.
"Yes. That chart is true, and it looks really, really bad. Scary, in fact. But of course spending would rise during a recession, and of course revenue would fall. It's a recession! That sharp divergence is the recession.
What I don't think you're is thinking about is how that chart continues 1, 5, 10 years out. As we recover from the recession, revenue will start to steadily rise. Now, the tax cuts will retard that process, but eventually, we'll see it. As the recovery goes, jobs will come back. Gov't spending will fall as more people go back to work, and need less from the social safety net.
It's hard to look at that chart, and not have a visceral reaction to it. It's scary to think about how much money this is costing us. It's not good. The only thing worse, though, is the alternative. Letting millions of people fall through the safety net is much, much worse. Everyone needs to have a little faith that things will get better."
What wouldn't they do to you for your own good? "Sure it's scary, but you need to have a little faith. Now get on the train."
