I don’t know what it is, but there is something intensely exciting about knowing that there are packages on their way to your house. I think it’s the thrill of wondering if you are going to have a special surprise waiting for you at home that is going to break up the usual monotony of the day.
I’ve been ordering a lot of stuff off the internet lately, so this excited, expectant feeling has been a recurring emotion in my life lately. Just yesterday I got my Thor Vikings series in the mail. My Mom called me on the phone and told me that she was waiting outside my house in her jeep with a package for me. When I went outside and got the package I knew immediately what it was. The look and the feel of a package full of comics is unmistakable.
For anyone who hasn’t read the Vikings run of Thor, I’m tellin’ ya, you’re missing out! I got to read it as a trade paperback about a year ago, and I finally decided to throw down the cash to own it for myself. My only regret is that I couldn’t afford to buy the run as a graphic novel. The single issues cost me about twenty-five bones, where copies of the graphic novel have been known to go for up to eighty dollars and more. Maybe one day…but not today.
Out of sheer excitement I actually scanned in (yes I finally got a scanner!) my copy of the first issue just to give you an idea what the series looks like.
The interior and cover art is all done by Glenn Fabry who did the cover art for the Preacher series, also written by Garth Ennis. I like his penicls...but I'm not usually too big on his paintings, but I like this particular cover.
I feel good for a change, only a little tired.
Chao,
Timothy.
