Why I decided to write this story/verse
There were three reasons, really:
1. to see if I could keep them apart that long (or, better said: see how long I could keep them apart).
2. to try and see from Sam’s POV (because I have Dean tendencies and wanted to try and understand Sam better).
3. to try and echo the spark of passion and devotion witnessed between Lucrezia and Cesare in The Borgias.
The need to explore all three of those things lead me down a path that saw me try and encompass Sam and Dean’s unseen lives, the part that happened before the show and the parts that happened between episodes. I wanted this to feel true, as much as it could, to feel like it could be settled in around the actual canon of the show as much as possible, and feel familiar and cohesive with the characters and story that we know and love. Whether I accomplished that or not is up for debate, but these were my intentions. I wrote this story to know these boys better, to share my love for them, and to share how I see them for a little while.
I have only been in this fandom for about 2 1/2 years, and I felt very overwhelmed and intimidated when I started reading fic and thinking maybe I wanted to write some of my own. I truly believe that Supernatural has the most talented, creative, and passionate writers of any fandom out there, and I didn't have the first clue how I was going to integrate myself into it all. I started writing this story for myself last year, mostly during a pretty isolated summer when I was just in my head with Sam and Dean, and I honestly never thought anyone else would read it. I can't tell you how grateful I am for any and all feedback I've gotten, for being welcomed into this fandom, and for being allowed to carve out my own little space here. It means the absolute world to me. So thank you. :)
