SPN Season 6, Ep 2 ~ My Thoughts

Spoilers under the cut.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. Now that episode was what I wanted to see. We are getting back into what I like about SPN. The whole Dean and a baby thing. At the beginning when he was fumbling with trying to care for the child it was so cute, but as we all knew, Dean is up the task and figured it out and became all super daddy. Just like I knew he could. What I enjoyed most though was seeing Dean's protective streak coming out again. The way he didn't want to hand the baby over to Grampa Campbell. It didn't matter that the kid was a shapeshifter baby, it was still a baby. And again we also see a reversal in attitudes here. Season 1 Dean might not have been so quick to defend the kid as innocent, but Sam probably would have. Now it's flipped again, and Dean is the one not so quick to jump to conclusions. I'm really thinking that his life with Lisa and Ben is bringing about that influence, and it makes perfect sense.

Now on to the Campbells. As my friend biggelois pointed out there is definitely something fishy going on here. I wanted to believe Grampa when he said they'd take the baby and raise it, then let it decide how it wanted to live it's life once it grew up. And I am calling the baby an it, because yeah what he said about it being a boy "for now" is correct. The kid could be boy or girl depending on whatever it felt like. But then again it was born a boy, so yeah technically sticking with boy would be more correct I guess. Gives ya something to think about ya know. Anyway I digress. Even though I wanted to believe Grampa there is no way in hell that I do. What is with the wanting to collect big and bads. First the Djinn, now the Alpha Shapeshifter. I mean those were tranq darts they were shooting. Not trying to kill it there. Something is being planned and I don't like the smell of it at all. And I'm dying to know who Gramps was talking to on the phone there.

Now on to Sam. OH Sam how involved are you with what the "family" has got going on? I'm worried about you boy. Really worried. Part of me is praying that he's just being influenced by the family, and isn't completely into something hinky, but even as naive as Sam can be at times I don't see him being that naive. And I have a strange feeling that he's being used as a handler for Dean. You notice instead of staying upstairs and fighting he was sent down to the panic room with Dean. Like they wanted to make sure that Dean didn't see them trying to capture the Shapeshifter. Oh Sam where is your head? Why can't you straighten up and face the fact that your loyalties should lie with your brother, you know the guy that practically raised you. The one that was willing to give up anything and everything for you? Why can't he remember that?

And then we have Ben and Lisa. You know, I don't want to see them get hurt, but I really want them off the show. I think they were good for Dean. He needed that normal life to be able to put things back into prospective and to remember just what he's been fighting for. They served their purpose, now it's time for them to go. And thank you Lisa for giving Dean the boot. He needed it. We all know he wanted to go, but he felt like he couldn't. For that I greatly appreciate the woman. She saw what needed to be done and put Dean's mental well being above her own. Not many women would do that. For that I respect her.

And that brings me to that beautiful black beauty which is the Impala. I didn't realize how much you could actually miss a car until I saw Dean without her last episode. That just ain't right. She deserves so much more than being stored in a garage. And as he pulled off that cover bit by bit all I could thing was "isn't she just beautiful?" You could see the love and care that Dean has taken with her. Even in storage she's absolutely pristine. Even more beautiful then after Dean restored her in season 2. And did you see that spark in Dean's eyes? It's almost as if he was coming alive again. Meeting an old friend or a fondly remembered lover. It was my favorite part of the episode.

And on to next weeks previews. All I can say is Cas!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so gonna be glad to see him involved in an episode that doesn't revolve around Lucifer, and breaking seals and asshole angels. Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!
