We've had company all week for the most part, my nephew and his family, and when they went to leave this evening my overgrown behemoth of a dog tried to get in the house. See she hates storms and it's storming tonight. Well of course I'm the only one in the family strong enough to pick her butt up. So I drug her outside but then I couldn't get back in without her coming in between my legs. I tried everything I could think of to get her away from that door. Giving her food, scaring her, spanking her, nothing worked.
So here comes my mom and throws a pan of hot water on her, and me. Which by the way does not work. So I'm basically wrestling this dog to try to keep her back as I attempt to back into our house. She's wet, I'm wet, and you know what wet dog smells like. So I get almost in the door and catch my foot on the step-up and next thing you know I fall. Land on the dog, and this still does not deter her, but I sure as heck am hurting about now.
After all is said and done I ended up backing into the house on my hands and knees while holding her face down on to the concrete of the front porch. It was the only way I was getting in that door.
So at that point I'm sitting there covered in mud and water, sweating like a trooper, smelling like wet dog. Just sitting inside our door on the linoleum entrance. My mother is standing over me looking down at me and all I could say is "I swear to god if you open that door one more time tonight I am gonna hit you upside the head."
I tell you, tax season next year I'm investing in a new dog kennel.
