How to clean the steam vent of a rice cooker?

Because I just asked the internet this question and got no response, here is what the person who sold it to me suggested:

Using a cotton ball (or a q-tip) to clean inside it! Probably should dab some vinegar on it or something if water is not enough.

Ah why hadn't I thought of this before?!
