Every so often one gets a craving for something sweet. We still have rhubarb though it's getting tough and the leaves are drying out. Crisps are quick and easy.
I still had to look up a recipe for the filling, and the one I found wanted sugar, cornstarch, rhubarb, and apples.
With no apples on hand, I put some applesauce in instead and the resulting filling was pretty tasty if I do say so myself. I could have cut down on the sugar.
But the whole point of this story is so that I'll remember around Thanksgiving that I ought to get some cranberries and make a cranberry crisp with a touch of applesauce.
