drum update
You know what makes me really happy? Learning how to play the drums. :)
Here's an update on my progress.
- I've learned all the basic rock grooves--systems 1, 2, and 3.
- Learned some fills
- Bought a real bass drum pedal off ebay (put it up against a cardboard box)
- And today I got to start learning my first song!! Rolling Stones - Paint It Black. wohooooo!
So at some point, I'm gonna need to get some real drums to practice on instead of the pretend drums I've been slapping together. But of course real drums are a "no-can-do" in an apartment complex (and most any house or building with people inside). I've been thinking about getting a digital drumset, which hooks up to headphones, but you'd still hear the loud tapping of the sticks. My teacher suggests finding a rehearsal space to practice in for an hour at a time. Supposedly pretty affordable. But I'd kinda feel like such a poser...
I should just suck it up and try it out. Will keep ya posted.
