Started the day really well going onto my 3 day diet again to shrink my tummy and eat less. But soon had a call from my mate Sue about coming to dinner and before long ended up being going out to dinner and invited a guy from work who she hadn’t seen in a while (Sue and I use to work together).
We went up to Baroque which is a kiwi bar/restaurant about 10 mins walk from our house. They have changed the menu and really upgraded the place and it fills up every night now.
I had Papua and prawn fritter and a hang for dinner, plus cocktails (we got there for the happy hour 2 for 1 cocktails so would be rude not to really).
I hate smoking in bars with a vengeance. I get home stinking of smoke and I wake up the next day with a smokers cough, imp so glad aussie and NZ have gone smoke free in bars and restaurants. It is smoke free where you eat, but right beside eating is smoking and since it is the same room it really doesn’t matter as the smoke comes over anyways!
Doc stayed home and played with River, god love him!
Darryl was going to go to Egypt over easter to see the pyramids,. Well actually I suggested it to him a while ago as he has never been and I have. So we decided he would go just for 4 days to go see cairo and luxor and pyramids and valley of kings.
He told his boss who has never been either and suddenly it escalated to 7 days in taba and do day tours from there.
Now Taba is near Dahab, which is 16 hours by bus to luxor and 5 hours by bus to cairo.
But Ritchie (docs boss) was adamant that his friend did it and it was easy. So I should doc on the map where Taba was from there places and how I could not understand how or why they would want to travel for so long and back each day!
I rang a few travel agents who said that Taba is a new 5 star area on the red sea that English have started going to, a bit like the canaries of Egypt. Its where people go to relax and dive and chill out. A resort, not somewhere you go to base yourself while you travel around.
I found some cheap flights for them to cairo and pushed them to make a decision as they were all dragging there feet (ritchies mate had also jumped on board by this stage).
Doc finally decided to (with some very ungentle persuasion) go to Egypt as planned by himself and I would get him on a tour for the 4 days to do exactly what he wanted, and with other aussies and kiwis.
Well after a few hours ringing around ALL the flights are full and there are only a few seats left on quite expensive fares. I found one which wasn’t tooooo bad and would give him 4 full days in Egypt. But since it was nearly extended to 5 or 6 he now doesn’t want to just do 4 days and wont go if it is not more than that!
He is a real spoilt brat sometimes and im not going to push him to go. If he wants to cut off his nose to spite his face then that’s his choice.
So now we are looking into going to South Africa for a week all together and seeing some elephants and lions, though doc wants to see some baboons with big bums but I don’t think they are in Africa??????????
