#40- picspam: five studio 60 reactions

I'm extending my West Wing reaction picspams outward to the rest of the Sorkin!verse as I make my way through it for the first time. This time I completed Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

West Wing Reactions: Season 1 | Season 2 | Season 3 | Season 4 | Season 5 | Season 6 | Season 7

1. The most fun thing about the show was playing, "Hey, where have I seen that person from?"

I'm not going to lie and say that I was positive about this series as a whole, but one thing that was completely awesome about it was the fact that so many recognizable actors whether they be established like Lou Grant/Santa Claus or the therapist from Ordinary People, Sorkin!Verse alums like Josh Lyman, CJ Cregg and Danny Conchannon or people famous for roles they found directly before or after the show like the ones I pointed out above for the most part... this show got a lot of good people to come on whether for a brief appearance, a cameo as a guest host or as a series star. It was cool to try and figure out where everyone came from or was going to.

2. Danny/Jordan is quite possibly the creepiest OTP, I have ever witnessed on a series... ever.

I've never been a huge fan of the pairings that most Sorkin fans adore such as Matt/Harriet or Donna/Josh, and just was apathetic to their existence. Danny/Jordan though? I loathed. The whole thing made Danny seem like a smug, arrogant stalker and Jordan like this stupid, weak-willed, stupid supposedly high powered woman. Every decision this couple made seemed to have either been hastily made, stupidly made, or made with a huge sense of creepiness and I just could not get behind it all, I don't care how cute it is.

On a slightly related note, did anyone else get the sense that Bradley Whitford was ridiculously tired throughout this entire show? It didn't look like he was having much fun with the character the entire time he was playing it, besides in a few scenes with Matthew Perry. And I don't think it was the tired that is supposed to represent how overworked Danny is, I just think Bradley looked really tired. It distracted me a bit.

3. Watching "The Disaster Show" just made me wish that Allison Janney was in every episode, or that every episode had some sense of fun.

Best episode of the season by far in my opinion. It was the first time, I got a lower-level West Wing vibe I expected from the show (the sense of fun is still there, but the problems are on a lower world level and the preachiness is not as high.) And seeing Allison Janney play against Cal just gave made me double every single time. (She really did seem to be having fun with the role.) Plus, I loved the scene where she talks to Jack.

Basically, A++ show. I wish every episode of this show was like this one.

4. Steven Weber, my appreciation for you has jumped 700 levels from this show.

Before this show my knowledge of Steven Weber was pretty much limited to that one episode of Psych he was on where he was related to Henry and then he and Shawn went on an adventure in the woods and Gus lost his shoes or something, and they all went to Red Robin a lot in a nice bit of product placement.

After this show, my knowledge of Steven Weber also includes the fact that he is a pretty damn fine actor who helped to create the most well-rounded character in this entire show, a fact that I can get behind. Honestly, it makes me want to look up his filmography or watch Wings or whatever.

5. Simon, in a surprising twist, was my least favorite character on the show.

I think it's popular to dislike Harriet, or Matt or Jordan the most when it comes to watching the show. At least that's what I got after reading the comments over at Alan Sepinwall's blog once I finished the show. For me though? Simon did absolutely nothing for me, besides be annoying. That plotline with Darius where he was a jackass to him but we were supposed to be on his side? Annoyed me on about the same level as the Danny-Jordan stalkerlove plotline did. And on top of that in his more dramatic moments, the actor didn't do much to sell it which was annoying. (It also upset me because Charlie Young never got as good material as he did. I might be a bit bitter about it.)

Do not steal, hotlink, or repost anything I made here! This takes me a shitload of time to make pretty and organize and stealing something that isn't your own or ruining my bandwith is just not cool. Be classy, people.
