If you're searching for sources (possible papers/journal publications, etc.), though, try ERIC. You might also want to check the archives of Time, Newsweek, andScientific American to see if they've published anything that might be helpful. The articles themselves will almost always distort the results of the studies they cite, but the fact is that they do cite studies - you can then look those up and see if they have what you need.
Search for everything with some combination of the words "music effects society youth" until you have a better idea of which direction you're going in.
And if that doesn't work, try throwing in the word "rap." It's the best, most generalized scapegoat out there, and with good reason.
