I've been remiss in updating for the last couple of weeks. It's been very hectic but lots of cool things have been happening:
1. Visitor from north of the border. We are having a nifty time getting to know
janeg who is visiting from Toronto. She had work commitments in Tucson this past week, and was able to arrive a few days early, so last weekend we spent Saturday at Biosphere 2 and the Tonoho Chul Garden Center, and then in the evening I introduced her to the addicting fun that is Rock Band 3. We spent most of Sunday at the Sonora Desert Museum before dropping her off for her work stuff. Picked her up the next Saturday morning and headed off to Phoenix to see the Musical Instrument Museum, then went to the monthly Phoenix house filk.
2. Finally getting plugged into the Phoenix filk commmunity. Had a hard time figuring out who to contact to get on the list to receive notices of the house filks. Got that figured out in time for
janeg and I to attend the February house filk hosted by the Hornings. Met
chatworthy,
ash_of_roses,
harmonyheifer ,
crazychicknlady, and two others whose names I am blanking on and renewed acquaintances wiith Mark Horning and Gary Swaty. Had a fabulous time swapping songs and hearing what was for me mostly new stuff.
3. Found a nifty brunch place in Phoenix called Over Easy. Initial doubt over "waffle dogs" gave way to instant fandom www.eatatovereasy.com
4. Lots of cool things happening at work, most of which are long and boring to explain, so trust me when I say work is back to being fun
5. Used pictures from Desert Museum to re-cut video for Common Ground (www.youtube.com/commongroundamerica it's the commonground2 one)
More stuff to report later, but that's enough for now.
