Avoidance

Nov 04, 2006 16:20

I avoid, dart behind walls,
dodge under shelters,
adamently refuse to see anything which belongs to
you.

Sometimes, I can't resist the urge,
sneak peeks at your retreating back --
a glance or two won't hurt --
and wonder what expression is on your face,
what causes that slight hunch of your tall shoulders.

But, nothing beyond that,
anything beyond that will kill me,
dose by dose,
stab by stab,
piece by piece peeled off behind your clueless
eyes.

And so, I avoid the bullet shots,
despite the overwhelming curiosity to peek out,
to look,
and i am left only with thoughts,
wonder,
an empty space.
