I got called in to work today at the production office for P.E. because my boss had to head out. I'm basically there to represent the office...and i've only worked in the production office on this movie probably 3 times. i know basically nothing. i'm being asked questions about la and ny actors that i know nothing about.
So I get down there at about 6:30...and they're prepping for a meeting with the director.
here is what i'm told by several different people before the meeting is supposed to start
my boss says:
first of all-i hope you won't quit after tonight
write anything he says down
he doesn't like to wait for anything
he's very rude
he doesn't like anyone talking but bonnie (the ny cd)
don't rustle papers, it distracts him
don't talk
stay out of the way
clara, a PA says
so...this meeting is going to be frightening
we'll probably get sent out called in sent out called in
don't talk
he wants to know things right away so if he asks you for something don't freak out just say "one moment, i'll get that" and quickly figure it out.
now, keep in mind that at the first meeting i was there for-i wasn't even allowed in the room. jen wanted me to take notes and as soon as i started to walk in bonnie literally barred my entrance and told me to leave. anyway.
so. i'm terrified. then i'm assigned to go through this list of scenes (it breaks down all the scenes and all of the characters in each scene) i have to go thru and assign the scene numbers to each scene on the list. there are almost 300 scenes in the movie.
and then he cancels the meeting.
he also cancelled the meeting yesterday.
he wants to schedule one for monday..which everyone is supposed to have off because its a holiday. everyone there has been working 12 plus hour days on this thing...at least 6 days week.
i'm pretty sure there are only 10 people cast in this whole thing...and there are 90 roles in the film.
this is a fucking monster. it starts shooting in march...as in, 2 weeks from now.
at least i'll have this on my resume? and at least bonnie will sort of remember who i am if i ever move to new york? I mean, she's worked on almost 100 projects. Insane. But seriously...i don't think i can get this into the movie industry. people have no lives there. i'd rather have no life and be in theatre. at least then i'm allowed to speak up and i'm not barred from rooms.
