please, have a seat

i got 'my' leather sofa set back from susan because she bought a gorgeous new tweed one. in exchange, i had to help my uncle move the new one into the house and move the old one to the upstairs sitting room where 'my' sofa set had been. then we moved it to my house and somehow got it up the stairs. lots of work.

im not sure whether i should feel further distanced from veganism for having acquired it, but to be honest i really don't care. veganism to me is about much more than whether or not i confine to the official definition for it. i mean, even when i was a strict vegan i didn't throw out my old leather shoes or the leather jacket my mother bought me. to me, it's waste not to use something just because its leather and it's an even further disgrace to the animal(s) from which it was taken. and anyway, i guess i haven't really been vegan since v_fall and i went to get pizza like a year and a half ago. also, by using this sofa i get something back that i grew up with while saving money to use towards supporting the bamboo flooring industry which is a renewable resource. i also will not be supporting a national furniture chain which uses dyes and precious hardwoods by the millions of tons. it seems like a fair tradeoff.

my neighbor and i have been talking about cleaning our gutters lately since the association isn't doing a damned thing about it. it was a beautiful day so i said we could use my second-story porch to get up on all the roofs to clean them (it extends well beyond the roofline). he did a little but then i took over, even hauling my water hose up there to do a proper gutter purge and flush.

somehow i ended up getting my pants completely soaked, it looked like i had waded through a pool. it was about 38 degrees outside and after about 5 minutes i lost most of the 'cold' feeling due to numbness. i was about an hour past that point. for some reason i decided it would be a super time to clean out my pond fountain filter, which i proceeded to do. i must have done a good job because that sucker shoots water up nearly 6 feet now at full volume. woo :)

anyway, that was my day, yay!
