I wish I was greek, seriously. Amongst my sizeable posse of students, are two Greek families. Greek as in parents moved here from Greece. In both families I have found the most delightful examples of balanced parenting creating delightful children. In both families the father is more of the disciplinarian, and the mother the caregiver. The discipline seems to be almost entirely academically based, and the children seem to legitimately understand why this is so emphasized by their parents. To juxtapose this, these are seriously the most affectionate parents I have ever seen. How often do you hear an American father calling for his son to come upstairs with “sweetheart, come here“? Shit. They are all so sweet to each other. The children are smart, and polite, and love their parents. Fucking beautiful. In addition to my grecian analysis, I have been enjoying my teaching and the freedom that it entails. I have 19 students right now, teaching around 12 hours a week. Those 12 hours are spread out across 5 days, and with substantial driving time, but its definitely worth it. Its certainly allowing me to spend adequate time thinking about what to do with myself in the future. I am definitely looking into gradschools, but not seriously enough to talk about it...yet. In other news, Cameron is coming home on Friday! Hurray! He has been gone 2 weeks and I expect him to come back with a grammy, seriously. LifeisGood. I am now trying to clean 2 weeks of bethmess. Actually I am putting off cleaning my bethmess. So I will do that now. Really I am going to do my nails. Oops.
