Character: Demyx
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Version: KH
Age: Appears late teens, early twenties (I place him at 19-20ish)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Nonexistant
Appearance: Demyx is of average height, though skinnier than most guys his size. His blonde hair is also styled in some weird cross between a mohawk and a mullet, and he has blue eyes. He’s usually in the black Organization coat, and is rarely seen without his beloved sitar. And if he doesn’t have it, he could summon it at any moment.
Personality:
As a Nobody, Demyx technically has no emotions. However, like most of them, he has a front he presents to people. His is very different from the rest of the Organization, however, in that he acts happy and pretty carefree. He wants nothing more than to be left alone to his music, and hates to work while complaining that he’s an awful fighter.
He does a very good job of putting up this persona. More often than not, he’ll try to push any work on someone else or just run away from fights. Any time he’s seen in the mission room, he’s playing on his sitar. He does seem to like talking to other people, so long as they’re not being mean to him or making him do something he doesn’t want to.
Demyx is actually a very capable fighter, and his personality tends to shift quite a bit. He becomes a rather ruthless and somewhat mocking fighter (in that he’s still annoying cheerful while kicking your butt) who really doesn’t seem to have a problem with hurting people after all.
Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths:
As do all the Nobodies, Demyx has the ability to use dark portals and summon Nobodies, mostly Dancers. He also has a weapon, albeit it an odd one, in the form of his sitar. He uses it to summon water as well, which he can use to make water clones of himself (and some that seemed to be shaped like music notes), blast into columns, and make spheres of water (he can probably use it in other ways) . If you consider it a strength, he's very good at pushing work onto others, but despite his complaints he's very good at fighting- when he has no choice. (His primary instinct tends to be 'fight or flight,' with flight as the default.) His carefree persona tends to throw people off into, if not making him liked, at least not thinking of him as an actual threat. He's more intelligent than he lets on as well, which means he can use how he acts and what he can do to his advantage.
Weaknesses:
Demyx's biggest weakness is the fact that he's lazy as hell. If he doesn't have to do something, he won't, and usually has to be threatened or at least made very 'unhappy' in order to get him to do anything useful. This also means that when he IS told to do something, he usually isn't very motivated to actually do it right. Basically, if you want something done, DON'T send Demyx to do it. Unless it's playing music. He's also more likely to run away from a fight than participate, if he has the change. Physically speaking, he's a long-range fighter and his only real defense is his sitar in the short-range, which doesn't hit very hard. (Though it can knock the enemy back pretty far).
History:
Demyx is the Melodious Nocturne, ninth member of Organization XIII. The Organization is a group of Nobodies, who are beings without hearts and are therefore incapable of emotion. They try to use Kingdom Hearts to get their hearts back, but destroy worlds in the process.
For the most part, he’s not a particullary useful or well thought of member. While in the Organization, he often complains about having to work and how he’d much rather just play his sitar. It’s to the point where even Roxas and Xion make fun of him for it. He only goes on a few missions with Roxas, all of which... he basically shoves on number XIII.
(This is, obviously, where he’s taken from- actually, not even this far, since he basically shows up FOR LIKE TWO SECONDS before Castle Oblivion but since his history is so short anyway I’ll just include all of it.)
He meets Sora first in the Underworld, where he is seen... running away. It turns out he was running from a giant three-headed dog, so it was for a good reason. Once Sora defeats said dog, he runs into Demyx again, who proceeds call him ‘Roxas’ and has to read off of a cue card to remember that he’s supposed to be ‘liberating his [Sora’s] true disposition.’ And then complains about how is totally not the right guy for this, which no one believes after being bad to destory a hundred water clones in a minute.
He doesn’t appear again until Hollow Bastion, where he cheerfully greets Sora and then gets yelled at and told to move. He acts like he’s very hurt by all this, but eventually the facade breaks down and he fights for real. Even with his somewhat goofy demeanor he presents a very hard battle, but it eventually defeated and is consumed by a pillar of light.
Sample First Person Journal post:
Aw, man, again? I am so not cut out for this...
I mean, seriously! A mission to the Underworld? That place is really creepy! So not my scene. Can’t Roxas go? Or just... someone who’s not me? Please?
Sample Third Person post:
Demyx didn’t like missions very much. They did, you know, involve working. Which usually meant not playing his sitar, or laying around, or doing fun stuff. Even if Nobody’s weren’t supposed to be able to have fun, Demyx could sure tell when stuff was really boring.
He sighed, looking around at his surroundings before sagging forward, whining. “Oh, they are so sending the wrong guy,” he groaned, pulling himself up. Maybe if he got it over with, then he could go back! And play his sitar! And do... other stuff!
That still involved actually working first, though.
Demyx dragged himself off into this new world, grumbling to himself when suddenly, a group of Heartless sprung up around him. Right. He was supposed to... get rid of these, or something. Even though Keyblades got rid of them for good, and this would only stall them.
Still, he summoned up his sitar, rocking out for a moment before blasting the surrounding creatures with water. When he was done, he started to head back to the castle- that was it, right?- before another group popped up. He groaned. “Oh, come on!”
