spring break!

Couldn't come up with a better title. It is what it is. You know?

Okay. So. Friday at lacrosse we did this run up Higby and I didn't come in last for once. Sweet. That's all we had to do and then we watched the boys' game. I went home and then drove all by myself to the Blands' to babysit. It was scary. Babysitting was fine. I like money.

Saturday was pretty good... I think... all I remember is hanging out with Erin and Sabrina. We ate at Souper Salad and then limped around the mall. And I rolled Sabrina's bra up in the window and only one car noticed. We had fun.

Sunday I got up wicked early to go to church and sing. Nonevent. Came home, packed, hit the road. I was feeling all intellectual so I packed like 50 books to read in the car, but someone let us borrow their TV/DVD player so we ended up watching Veronica Mars all the way to Amarillo.

Monday we woke up and started driving again. Again with the V. Mars. She's pretty much my hero and object of great envy. At one point Dad told me to drive, which is not a problem because I can, but TEXANS CANNOT. Good grief. They were driving on the SHOULDER, they were straddling the LINES. It was ridiculous. After about 10 minutes I feared for my life and the life of my dog... and my family's too I guess... so I pulled over and made Dad drive again. Another thing about Texas: there are no on ramps. [I just thought I'd note that in trying to type "on ramps" I initially wrote "armpits." Okay. Great.] So basically you have 3 feet of sidewalk to get to 70 miles an hour and not hit the huge trailer driving on the shoulder. Sweet. Okay. We got to my grandparents' house and I conked out on the recliner. I woke up and ate... but that's pretty much all I remember.

Tuesday I woke up at 10:30 and it was raining, so that nixed my plan to go run in low altitude on completely flat streets. I showered and ate a huge breakfast, and then I went over to Belton High School to eat lunch with my cousin Liz. It was crazy- they had just as many minorities as white people! Consider my mind thoroughly blown. I did notice that everyone seemed pretty laid back. Everyone was wearing jeans and a t-shirt or sweats and I think I only saw one logo bag. Contrast that to LP, where the majority of girls dress to the nines every day, Dooney & Bourke and all. Then Mom and Grandma picked me up and Grandma showed us this clothes shop. They had cute bras... just not in my size. It was sad. Back at home I ate lunch and... hm. Oh I know! Meagan and I ran to the park and played some lacrosse. Well, you know, by playing I mean trying to get her to cradle correctly, me falling in mud, Meagan throwing the ball AT me, not TO me... good family fun. Then we ran all the way back. I love low altitude. You just cannot even know how EASY the run was! It was about a mile total, but my legs didn't burn, I could get enough air, and I sweat like a pig. When we got home I showered and we ate dinner and watched American Idol. Then the card-playing ensued. Moon family tradition. I lost really, really badly.

Wednesday was the official Baylor visit! It was rainy when we first got there, but it cleared up and was niiiice and muggy. Our tour guide was hilarious, and the other families on the tour were inevitably uptight. After the tour we ate lunch with one of the professors who was my mom's college minister when she went to Baylor. He told us everything we wanted to know and didn't try to sugar-coat anything. It was awesome. After that we found an admissions counselor I could meet with and she was really cool. She majored in Professional Writing and minored in Spanish. It was really neat talking to her. We left Baylor and went to the Dr Pepper museum so I could get a key chain... for my new keys! Yay. Then we went back to the Baylor bookstore so I could buy a key chain there. Woo. Okay, here are some Baylor pictures from last year when Mom showed me around.

It's gorgeous. And I love it. And I really want to go here but I'm not sure how we'd afford it.
Anyhoo. When we got home I ate and then Liz picked me up for her youth group. The youth leader remembered me from last year- right down to where I lived! It was cool. Overall it was just so nice to go to a youth group that had more than 6 people. Went home, played cards, lost badly.

Thursday we drove 3 hours to Fredricksburg and toured the National Museum of the Pacific War, i.e. World War 2 as it related to the Pacific War. It basically is geared to make you hate Japanese people. I think it took close to 2 hours to walk through the whole exhibit... it was seriously a month-by-month play-by-play for all of WW2. Around 1943 I gave up reading all the things and just looked at the pictures. After finally escaping that, my grandpa announced that we were going to take the guided walking tour down the street! Wahoo! I kept falling asleep whenever we sat down to listen to whatever. The guide couldn't tell a story to save his life. We finally left and went and looked at shops. We left that and drove an hour to this little cafe with amazing food and sinful pie. Ohmygoodness. I'm still full from it, probably. I don't remember what we did when we got home... probably played cards. Oh no! I spent the night at Liz's house. We talked for like 3 hours before crashing at midnight.

Liz skipped all of Friday and Ashlie skipped the afternoon, so in the morning Liz and I watched this Barbie fairy mermaid movie... and it wasn't half bad! Then Ashlie came home and we packed a picnic and found a park and ate it. Of course my new cool bottle-opening key chain DIDN'T work so we ended up smashing the tops of the bottles of DP against a grill. It was fantastic. So I was mad because my camera quit working when we played on the playground. We would've had some awesome pictures. After that we went back to Liz and Ashlie's house and washed and waxed Liz's car and I got a tan! Yes. I did. It was really fun. Then everyone came over and we ate delicious food and Blue Bell ice cream [which, by the way, is one excellent reason to live in Texas] and then we watched Brian Regan. Love it. We all said our goodbyes and went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Earrrrly Saturday morning we packed up and left. Again I planned to read the whole way home, and again I succumbed to the televisual miracle that is Veronica Mars. But I actually did drive a full hour without incident. I got the honor of driving through Dumas. We got home late-ish last night and I went to bed.

Definitely skipped church this morning. Dad didn't have to preach... why go? I started laundry and got all motivated to do my English, but I obviously got distracted...

All right. Back on task!
