Hurricane Party!!
Hurricane Earl is coming!! Except not really. We're just supposed to get very heavy rains and some wind overnight, and it should be clear by noon tomorrow. But there's still a very good chance I could lose power and/or trees depending on the direction of the wind.
My car insurance company sent me an email alerting me to the hurricane warning and telling me ways I can protect my car. Then it said, "Notable statistic: More than half of all hurricane deaths in the last 30 years resulted from inland flooding, reports the National Hurricane Center. Of those deaths, one in four people drowned in a car." Great, thank you. Now I'm afraid to drive in the rain.
We do have a generator, so maybe this time we'll actually get gas for it. And we have plenty of food, a mini grill if we need to cook on it, and I'll pick up some bottled water just in case. We can't fill our bathtub, because the drain plug is broken. But overall, I really don't anticipate needing any of these things, I just like to be prepared.
Other than that, I'm really excited to have a long weekend with NO PLANS!! Hopefully J and I can spend some quality time together, and with the pooches too!!
