Eeek!

For those of you who don't know, I'm a pretty superstitious person.  So, today is not my favorite day of the year.  Nor will the one next month be my favorite day.  As I grow older, I try to be a grown up and forget about silly bad luck things and just live my life, but this is hard knowing that my grandfather wouldn't even leave the house on today's date.

So after oversleeping a bit this morning, I rush around through the shower, coffee, getting dressed and manage to get out my front door only 2 minutes late.  I run to my car and open the door - eek! door frozen shut! That's ok, it's happened before, EXCEPT- passenger door frozen shut too! I finally get the back door open and throw my bags in to climb into the front, AND THEN THE BACK DOOR WON'T SHUT!  So I have three doors on my car that won't open, and one that won't shut.   After a good 20 minutes of slamming, cajoling, begging, and hitting my car, I go inside the house and slam the front door, just because I can.  Luckily! my sister was awake, has had this problem before, and after 10 minutes of her talking sweetly and warming up the latch with her fingers, the door finally shut! And she got the passenger front door open! I still had to do a little climbing, but not too bad.

According to my sister, the key to unfreezing the awesomely modern car made of plastic is speaking calm words of encouragement to the car while gently massaging the latch to warm it up :)  I'm glad she has a good relationship with my car! All I did was yell at it and try to close the door harder.

So now I'm wondering if this wasn't my car's or the universe's way of telling me I should have just stayed home today.

It's also my niece's 4th birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSS!!
